Appreciate all the comments!
The photo shows the exit side. The entrance is on the other side just behind the shoulder. The shot was on level ground from a popup blind. Perhaps the impact was higher than it should have been.

First Crossbow Kills Leave me Wondering about Broadheads?
http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff117/AvianQuest/BeaverBottoms/Centerville10-1-12.jpg My son and I both scored on some tender does using our new Vortex crossbows with Bolt Cutter broadheads. Both were shot at 20 yards, and both ran about 20 yards before going down. My son's deer ran in the open ...

Re: R U a Good Hunter or need a Fast Bow
Oh ya, why do you use a crossbow at all then? Why not just carry a knife? The Tarahumara (the Running People) are a tribe in the Copper Canyon of Mexico. They can run for days...hundreds of miles at a time without stop. They hunt deer by running them down and cutting their throats when they fall fr...

Re: Luminok question: Failure rate????
There is nothing like this on the market (that I know of) for flat butt crossbow nocks. Actually there is.....Firenocks http://crossbow-reviews.net/firenocks-vs-lumenoks-review Firenocks are activated by the acceleration of the shot. You turn them off by dropping the arrows nock down about 6-8"...

Re: purchasing a cross bow for the first time
Thanks I'm in Michigan what's the stoping power of the two and how it's shooting from an elevated position? Bows don't have "stopping power" as such. They kill by hemorrhage, not by shock. You gain very little in flatter trajectory or the ability to shoot through a deer at speeds higher t...

Re: I need honest answers
I think the intelligent thing to do is to send me the GPS coordinates, the gate combo, etc. and let me test hunt it for a year...or two...or three, and then I can give you an honest, professional evaluation.kd8jgu wrote:

Re: I need honest answers
Plenty of state and federal land to hunt on here in Texas, but yes most of our state is private land. This is because we came into the United States as our own country, the Republic of Texas. We only allowed the federal government the limited amount of land that we agreed to let them have. What part...

Re: When Do You Replace Rope Cocking Aid?
Good question. I just took delivery on my Vortex and I've only shot it 15 times as of this writing. But it became apparent to me that should the rope cocker get lost or malfunction that I'm out of business until I can find another one which isn't a good option if it happens while I'm so deep in Texa...

Aligning Broadheads with Vanes?
I've read that tuning broadheads so that they align with the vanes improves accuracy. While this doesn't seem logical that the two surfaces separated by 16" or so and only traveling at around 200 mph can interact, it still sounds worthwhile. So, I've read that some people accomplish this by usi...
