Danny Miller is *the* guy to go to for stuff like this. I agree about Excal not making the fasteners robust enough, too, btw. Loctite is a band-aid imo.

Re: Does Anyone Shoot FMJ's Out Of Their Micro 335?
I have a couple dozen FMJ "bolts". Some fletched with Fusion vanes, some with SK-300s. I've shot them out of a Matrix 355 and a Middleton 375 SS (with hot limbs... it shoots almost 385 with a 350 grain arrow). They're alright. Honestly, I prefer plain old 2219s instead though. In my experi...

Re: Rated Speed by Arrow Weight
I didn't do any math on KE, all i told was my chrony readin n arrow weights i used. The 350gr GTII gave a 346 fps screen shot several times back to back. Then i switched to the 2219 arrows at 400gr n got 312 fps on 3 shot chrony readin Well, if you do any investigation about it, be sure to let me k...

Re: Rated Speed by Arrow Weight
Those are unusual results, vixenmaster. 350gr @ 346fps = 92.9 ft*lbs of KE, while 400gr @ 312fps = 86.4 ft*lbs KE. Notice that the heavier arrow has less KE? That's a really weird result... almost always a heavier arrow will pick up more KE assuming the two arrows are shot from the same bow. Absolut...

Re: zombie destruction
I was the same way till I had to start using the crossbows and putting 240 or more pounds of draw weight on them to shoot em,,, I found it much harder to use aluminum and get any life out of them shooting 300 to 500 shots a month. That was when I seen less than ideal results from aluminum after a f...

Re: zombie destruction
OK...so we can come up with a scenario that will break and arrow. But I have yet to see a deer with a 300lb steel shoulder blade bone. Of course they don't have a 300 lb steel shoulder blade. Heh. I'm just saying... somewhere between the two extremes an arrow will break. I've broken the blade off a...

Re: zombie destruction
But of course it can break if enough force is applied to it. If I shot an arrow into a piece of steel hanging by a rope it would not break the arrow. Hmm. I think that would depend on the particulars of the situation. If you hung a 300 lb steel plate, I'd be willing to bet it'd break your arrow. Ha...

Re: zombie destruction
Ekkie, sorry but I have to sorta disagree with your statement. When shooting my personal bow, I only use aluminum arrows, I have broke, or had a broken aluminum when it missed the target and hit solid backstop. Aluminum will break, but generally they bend or flex. I have had many arrows bend while ...

Re: zombie destruction
Don't get too excited about the broken arrows. Your arrows are fine. I've seen this many times. With any of these bows, you're generating a tremendous amount of force and when that force is met with an abrupt and sudden halt in a target like a Rhinehart this can happen. The closer you are the great...

Re: zombie destruction
Shafts should not break going into a foam target. No way I'd trust those hunting. Honestly I only hunt with aluminums (I hate the thought of carbon splinters in my meat) but that's probably a little off-topic.
Good luck... hope you get it figured out.

Re: Which Slick Trick to use?
I took a nice sized doe last season with a Grizztrick II. It did break a blade in the far front leg, but that was after smashing completely through the near front leg (it was a goofy quartering-to shot), cutting through at least 1 rib, cutting through the heart, and finally hitting the far leg. The ...

Rail width, Exo series vs Micro
I've heard it mentioned that the Micro has a narrower rail than the Exo series. Can anyone tell me how much? I'm strongly considering buying an Exomax, then machining the rail down to the correct length, and putting a Micro 355 riser + limbs on it. I'm worried that if the Exomax rail is too wide tho...
