Strings + stretch..HELP

It seems the more I read the more I get confused about strings. There are so many to choose from, and as of now I have the original one on my Exocet 200, which I have not even had the chance to shoot yet, which brings me to my question. I have read that depending on what string you use a string will...

Re: your deer feeder idea's

I have not yet filled it so would have to guess, its a 5 gallon pail and its a three foot long( give or take a few inches) 4 inch pipe which I guess would hold another 2 gallons, and if I remember correctly one gallon of whole corn weighs around 7lbs, so my guess(which could be wayyy off) would be 4...

Re: your deer feeder idea's

That's a good idea also Dave, but would not work in my situation because there are to many tree's nearby where the coons can go up and jump from one branch to another to get to the tree that would have the metal flashing on it. Here is my first try at my feeder, I still have to fix something up to c...

Re: your deer feeder idea's

That's a good idea, I will have to try that instead of my baffle idea. I am going to keep my eye out for some small diameter scrap tubing, I think your pipe idea will work great on my cable(cloths line).

Re: Camera mount

Pretty easy to make, just need a small piece of 6 inch tube and a small piece of plexiglass for a top, and a nicely dried log with the bark coming off.

Then you can mount it on a mount like Pappa Bears with a slight modification to accept the size of the tube.

Re: your deer feeder idea's

Nice build, I like that feeder.

As for batteries dying all the time in your electric one, if your still have it just buy a small solar panel. I had one made by Moultrie and my battery was always at 90% from spring to fall.

Re: Camera mount

Thanks Dave. The one covered in bark has been out in the woods a year now, and my buddy walk by it without noticing it, so its good for trespassers who might take a free camera.

Re: your deer feeder idea's

Well, I figured if my branch cannot hold the weight of my feeder I would run a cable from one tree to another like you did Vixen Master with that board, but I will have a much longer distance between my two trees. I sure your set up would work if the pail was not so close to the trunks of the trees ...

Re: Camera mount

I love threads on home made stuff. That's a great mount, small and easy to make, great job. I made one similar to yours but the first day I tried it out a bear decided to get up close and personal. The mount survived but not the camera lol The funny part is, my buddy who owns the land said there has...

Re: Silencing your Crossbow!

What made a big difference for me was a Limbsaver Tentacle Wrap wrapped over the stirrup and heat shrink tubing on the arrow retainer. I have always had the STS vibration damper system on the bow (a generous gift from a member on this forum). I added a BowJax Super Maxjax Damper over each of the ST...

Re: Feeding Corn

I've read articles that say its bad and I've read articles that say that its fine, maybe it depends on what the deer normally eat. Where I hunt its normal to see deer in the cornfields digging in the snow getting left over corn kernels on the ground after the corn was harvested.

Re: your deer feeder idea's

I think I will put mine at around 4 feet, hanging on a branch away from the trunk of the tree. Am going to combine Pappa bears idea with the bucket idea, and connect the pipe feeder to a bucket so it can hold more corn. Now I just need to come up with a way to keep critters from climbing down the ro...

I would think 550 Paracord would work perfectly since its not very thick and rated at 550 pounds.
