Re: Cheapest game cam pics

I like that "grow feet" statement Don. A pity we live in a world where our possessions walk away. The cameras look like they take good pictures. I use a couple of Bushnell game cams in lock boxes that are lag bolted to trees with 3" bolts. None have walked away yet but I have pictures...

Re: ...in the crosshairs... Part II

Thanks all! If I could afford it I would definitely go with a cape mount, but will most likely end up with a DIY Euro mount. Thank god it's cold out... I'm not ready to cut him up just yet. Take a look at the Do-All Iron Buck. Cheap way to show off a nice rack. http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&...

Re: Who' s had a close call

Glad you are both OK and saved all your gear. I have been there and done that. 11 degrees F. one December morning and I took a buddy floating down a local river. He quickly shot a limit and said he would paddle while I shot. I asked if he had ever paddled a canoe and he said several times so we swap...

Re: Warranty Items

Thanks for the advice lvt01 and the phone number Gerald. I have a splintered limb that I am going to swap out after deer season ends. I had contacted Excal in Canada and was told to call them for a RA number when I was ready to swap. I think I will deal direct with Danny and buy a few items from him...

Re: Where are the does?

Same here in Ga.
Past week has been almost total bucks. I saw a doe and fawn yesterday morning and they were the first in over a week. A small 6 pointer was harrassing the doe.
Pretty sure they are laying low cause the rut is about to kick in hard.

Re: ...in the crosshairs... Part II

Congrats. He is definitely a mounting size buck .
That 8 point you passed up will look sort of like that in a year or two also. Aren't you happy you let him walk now?

Re: If Only I Had Waited 1 More Minute

To peeeee or not to peeeee....lol. Last Sat I was hunting my place in 82A and had been sitting in a mini blizzard all morning with no deer action at all. At approx 10 am I leaned my xbow against the tree in front of me and turned my back and had a leak off the back of my wooden stand. No sooner did...

Re: Thermacell warming insoles - review

I have not tried these Thermacells yet but I also have a problem with cold toes. I like to wear rubber boots when deer hunting and they are usually not very effective toe warmers to say the least. Thus when it gets around 40 degrees F. or under out come the Toasty Toes foot warmers. Till this year.....

Re: Had him in the crosshairs....

You did good. I let his twin here in Ga. walk yesterday and again today. They don't get bigger if you kill them when they are young.

Great picture. :D

I took my .308 so I cheated but.....

Got a buck. I thought he was a 8 point when I pulled the trigger but he had ground shrinkage on his antlers and became a 6 point. His body grew though. Largest bodied deer I have killed thus far. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/robertyb/11-8-12%206%20point/11-8-123.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com...

Re: Control One CDS Harness

I have a spider live wire descent system that I picked up for about $60 and looks like it does the same thing. It connects between your harness and the tree strap so it is very comfortable and almost invisible. It looks like they are already back in business under a different name. Nope. Completely...

Re: Slick Tricks

Just switched over myself. Bought a pack of 125gr standards and a pack of magnums. Flight performance is very similar. Both fly great. The standards hit maybe 1/2" - 3/4" lower than a FP at 40 yards, and the Magnms hit mabe 1/2" lower than that. Makes sense to me because of the incre...
