Re: Can you all help settle this?
I believe that the pictures are 2 different deer. Look at the right rear leg markings just above the 2nd joint. The antlers on the first deer look larger/different to me. JMHO

Re: sound & bolt/arrow?
Thanks HW & I feel so embarrassed about my math! The sound to strike difference looks to be about .25 (1/4) Sec at 35 yards. Not very much time for the deer to react.

sound & bolt/arrow?
Speed of sound =340 M/Sec or 1126'/Sec. My hunting distance = 35 yards or 420' and @ 300 FPS the bolt will take about 1.4 Sec to travel to the target. The sound will take about .38 Sec to make it to the deer or target. The delay between the sound & strike of the bolt is about 1 Sec at 35 yards. ...

firebolt?
I got "the right stuff" package of 6 firebolt arrows from Cabela's and mounted Xcal boltcutter 150GR BH. My question is that I have been unable to find the weight of the firebolt 20" arrows. I believe that Excalibur recommends that the minimum weight of the bolt & head should be a...

Re: Let The Games Begin!!!
Thank you for a truly outstanding post & hope you get a big deer with your new X-Bow. Be sure & use the rope cocking aid as it sure saves my shoulders and without it I would be unable to cock my new Equinox. I am really impressed with how very accurate the Excalibur bows are. I am confident ...

How often can you use the same tree stand without turning off the deer in the area?

"- 1 ... The Rope Cocking Aid ... are the brass wheels suppose to spin? Mine don't and the rope just slides along them and the wheels stay fixed in place." I looked at my rope cocking aid & both brass wheels turn BUT not spin. It appears that the brass wheels are stuck hard to the shaf...

Re: String changing
This is what I do to change the brace height by twisting the string. I cock the bow and put on the safety. I use my tree stand rope and put a bowline knot in each end with the length between the knots adjusted to go over each end of the limbs with the center over the comb of the stock. I then un-coc...

deer prep
Bow & X-Bow season starts 9/8 here in NC this year. I would like to know some tips of what to do with a deer if I am lucky enough to harvest one while it is so warm. I do NOT want to kill a deer if I cannot ensure that the meat will not spoil before I can get it packaged and into the freezer. I ...

2nd note to self
Keep your thumb & fingers below the path of the string when shooting! I was VERY lucky when shooting from a padded rest & the string just grazed my thumb.

Note to self, newbie
When shooting at 35 yards do not use cross hairs as center of target as all of your shots will be LOW! (Scope sited in at 20 yards) I have to train myself to use the proper scope vertical arrow for my targets to get the range right. Practice & more practice. These X-Cals are very accurate.
