Re: Best 3 things I've bought.....so far

I like my two tripod deerstands. They both have 360 degree shooting rails that I cover with thick pipe insulation. I take a 10' X 12' camo tarp and fold it over to be 5' X 12' tarp and add one grommet between each existing grommet. I then hang it from the shooting rail with zip ties in each grommet....

Re: New TOTA 3 blade broadhead

I switched to mechanicals (X-Acts) a few years ago and I've been mostly glad. They fly well and left short, easily followed blood trails. My only problem with them is they aren't easy to re-use. After shooting one, you have to find replacement parts and then hope you re-assembled the head correctly ...

OT \ Battery chainsaws

I've had a Stihl Farm Boss chainsaw for over 20 years, and it still runs about as well as it did when new. A couple of years ago I bought a battery powered pole saw and I really like how you just keep the battery charged and cut away. You do need bar oil (just like gasoline saws) but, other than tha...

Re: Foxy

I've never seen a squirrel like that. It's really different from every other squirrel I have seen. Fox squirrels seem to be losing ground to grey squirrels around here. I never see a fox squirrel in the metropolitan area where I live and I probably see 4 grey squirrels for every fox squirrel at my f...

Re: What the heck is wrong with people today?

The property I own has about .4 of mile of gravel road forming the north border. The road is somewhat of a cut through, but the area is very rural with little traffic. Despite this, I make several trips a year along this stretch with my tractor to pick up fast food trash, beer cans and bottles, ciga...

Re: Turkeys

I'll carry a 20 ga. I have that has a turkey choke and a red dot on opening morning. With TSS shot a 20 gauge is about as good as a 10 gauge used to be. 50 yard shots are not irresponsible. The bad thing is how ridiculously expensive TSS shells are. I may grab my crossbow later in the season for a c...

Re: CWD Officially in BC

Is baiting deer legal in BC? CWD spreads faster when deer congregate so steps to keep them from being in close contact can help to slow the spread of the disease. Well intentioned feeding for non-hunting purposes is just as bad as baiting for hunting.

Re: Once in a lifetime weekend on Nip

Thanks for the great replies guys. So took me 5 hours to fillet the 81 fish. One 2 hour shift and one 3 hour shift. Touched up the fillet knife once mid way through with a few strokes on the 1200 grit fine hone. Might look into an electric as my neighbour tells me they are the cat's azz. Although n...

Re: morning vs. evening

I don't have exact numbers but my morning vs. evening kill ratio is pretty similar to yours. Like you, I don't like the prospect of tracking a deer in the dark, though the only one I have lost I found the next morning torn up by coyotes. I also like mornings because I enjoy watching nature wake up a...

Re: 2024 Season

In 2023 I didn't get a deer with my crossbow and I want to correct that this year. I saw plenty of deer while bowhunting, but I never had a buck I was sure was legal (4 pts. on one side) or a doe come into good range. I shot one buck and one doe with a rifle, so I have plenty of venison. I only hunt...
