Re: Easily portable climber stand?
Thanks for all the thoughtful replies. I decided to give the X-stand a try; it was cheap enough ($135 delivered) that if I don't like it I will move up to the Viper, and either return the x-Stand or keep it as a spare. I do already have a cart but for stealth reasons I usually only drag it into the ...

Re: Easily portable climber stand?
Summit Viper; now that I hear the name, that was the one that many had recommended in the previous thread. There is some comparative information on both on ArcheryTalk and around the net. Both seem good....the Viper seems to get the nod for comfort and the x-stand for portability. Leaning toward the...

Easily portable climber stand?
Hey fellas, long time no see. I hope you all are having a good summer. I did a search and couldn't find anything, though I thought I saw a thread on this once upon a time. I have some ladder stands, and a cheap (heavy) climber stand. All have worked fine for me since I primarily hunt private land. I...

Re: Pop-Up blind recommendations
I too like the ameristep doghouse blinds. I have two of them....they are as low as $40 or so in the off season, probably around $70 now. I just bought a Guide Gear doghouse blind from The Sportsmans guide for $50 delivered, but the ameristep blinds are superior. Better zippers, camo on the screens, ...

Re: European Mount of my wife's buck
apparently he plastic skull euro mounts are gaining popularity, even with the professional taxidermists; skull cleaning methods are losing favor. I guess colonies of beetles are hard to raise and keep, the boiling method is to time consuming and messy.....and just leaving the skulls to nature can al...

Re: Doe down...question about hanging?
it will be tough to butcher if it freezes solid.... My issue is that it is always either so warm as to concern me about spoilage, or too cold so that it will freeze like a rock. So I either take it to a processor where they will hang it is a walk-in fridge for a few days, or I just butcher it same d...

Re: Best way to keep warm feet
Heck, if you're in a ground blind bring in a small propane heater that you screw into the disposable bottles. It'll warm up that small space enough to warm more than your feet. I bought two of these heaters (different brands, one at a time) and returned them both. The slight hissing of the propane ...

Re: Optimal Arrow Length
my matrix 380 shoots my 18" diablos and my 20" firebolts about the same, when comparably set up. The fact that the diablos don't stick out past the stirrup is a BIG bonus, at least for me.

Not my intention to downgrade the upgraders; I do recognize that there are many reasons for and benefits to an upgrade, but an $1168 upgrade is just nuts.

yeah, no movement this morning in my 20 degree NoVA hunting ground.....nor yesterday's 25. I am hoping for a return visit from the 6 pointer that I saw on Sunday but who wouldn't give me a good shot.

Re: Trijicon ACOG
For that price it should field dress and process your kill, deliver it to your house, and cook it.
Maybe I am a pedestrian, but how much scope do you need for 50 yards? My lowly tactzone and varizone does everything that I need, including collecting enough light to use in any legal hunting hour....

Re: What arrow broad head combos for 380s
I thought I posted a reply but it is gone. I go light; 18" diablos with 100 grain two-blade rage broadheads. 350-352 grains total. Chronied at 370 fps IIRC. Been thinking about going heavier, but I have a bunch of 100 grain broadheads, and this setup knocks em right down when the shot is good. ...

just get em off the interweb. amazon, ebay, pick your vendor. And many here will likely tell you to just call Danny Miller.
