Many local governments have never addressed the issue of hunting in the city limits. Check your local laws; if it isn't forbidden, it's legal. I found out recently that there is no law against hunting with archery equipment in my city limits. And this year I'm taking out the deer who keeps eating my...

There is a cleaning tool called a boresnake that has the brush imbedded in the front end and a rope that follows to clean the barrel. I think they have one just for the 17. I'm not sure of the manufacturer. It makes cleaning easier and you don't have to worry about the rod scratching your barrel.

Pigs and cows in fences is farming, not hunting.

I have never hunted a high-fence area(this was only my second year hunting anyway) and I don't plan to. I won't support the practice primarily because it is bad PR for hunting in general; and, also I'm not sure about the long-term damage to the genetics of the animals inside the fence. Like a small ...

I have friends in Texas who hunt on a high-fence ranch about one or twice a year. The ranch is over 10,000 acres in size. A ranch that size does not make for a canned hunt, but to non-hunters and anti-hunters alike it sounds awfully unfair to the animal and only gives them extra mud to sling. Non-hu...

You can make a cheap gravity feeder out of flexible drain pipe available for cheap at most hardware or farmers supply stores. Just attach it to a tree or fencepost with fence wire. Fill it with cottonseed instead of corn if hogs are a problem. Also, don't forget to bend the top over to keep out rain...

I think what wallymax is talking about is a FLIR unit; they are expensive and bulky. We used them sometimes when serving drug warrants to locate people inside before we busted the door. A cheaper(but not cheap) alternative would be a night vision scope that uses infrared as well as light amplificati...

I plan on taking at least one each with crossbow, shotgun, rifle and pistol; all on public land. Also want to take my son out more, he will be six next year. He went a couple times this year and the last time he went he spooked about 6 deer in a group, I know he was upset about it, so he needs to ge...

Thanks for the tip on painting the stock, I'll do a search and go from there. I have only been hunting for two years, but have been shooting since I was 18. I never thought much of archery until I started hunting and found out that I could hunt for an extra month each season. It is nice to know I ca...

vixen accuracy

I know this might be off topic, but I just bought a vixen and had some questions. First, when I sighted in for the first time, it produced one four-bolt group of 1 3/4" at 40 yards after just a half hour practice  is this normal? This is my first attempt at archery and I must admit, I wa...
