Re: My buddy just nailed a big buck tonight!10pt buck weird
I just never know where Jack will show up with a deer! Congrats on the buck, was Catlyn doing the tracking? I had to look twice at the picture but then knew it was Jack from SE Iowa and my Great Neice smiling for the camara.

Re: Tagged a Iowa Stud
Congratulations on what sounds like a very nce deer. I hunt in the other corner, SE Iowa and have been seeing very few deer around here. I don't want to sound like the internet police but just a point of information that I didn't know until last month. Iowa requires the use of a THREE blade broad, e...

Re: Swhacker on a Firebolt
The buck last fall and the turkey this spring were not able to express any displeasure with the Fire Bolt and Swhacker combo from my Axiom. Buck made it about 60 yards and the turkey about 20 yards until stone cold dead. You might consider just a light sharpening touchup and good to go.

Re: My heart My Soul My Wife
You are correct this is a shitty disease, but it is beatable. My wife's cousin just went through this over the last several months at Mayo clinics in Rochester Mn. She has finished the reconstructive surgery a month ago and is back to work now and has no cancer showing. When I finished my radiation ...

Re: Is The Vari-Zone Scope Better?
I have the exact same deal. I have an Axiom package and bought a Varizone scope from a member on here on the trading post and I think it is great. It seems a little brighter and helps me shoot a little better with my "tired old eyes" as well. Our bow season here in Iowa starts Oct 1st, and...

Re: Various questions for Crossbow hunting
This will be my second deer season with my Axiom, so I am pretty new to it also. I always wait to cock my bow when I get to the stand or blind and keep my rope aid hooked on the string so that I won't forget it at the house. Watch the video and learn how to decock using the cocking rope. This will r...

Re: State to state laws
Last spring I did the same thing with an Iowa disabled permit. Last fall I killed a buck with my Axiom and last Sunday I killed my first crossbow turkey. I don't know about other states, but I have read that Iowa may allow crossbows for everyone in their late deer seasons for bow, muzzle loaders and...

Old dog learning new tricks
Sunday morning this old dog managed to learn a new trick, harvesting a turkey with a crossbow! I got a Axiom bow last spring but never had a chance at a turkey with it then, but did kill a young buck with it last fall. Sunday morning I got a bit of a late start and it was past day light by the time ...

Re: Tomorrow will be 6 years
Because of so many of these stories and my wife's incestance I did buy a harnes and am using it in my ladder stands this year, but thanks for the encouragment and reminder. On a side note, just between you and me, how often do you find yourself actually talking to Dad, either in the stand or any oth...

Re: slick tricks
So far I have only killed one deer with my Axiom with a 125 grain Schwaker. Very big hole but not much of a blood trail but I heard him crash about 75 yards away. When I dressed him he was clear full of blood with huge slices through both lungs. He was 18 yards away and I was in a 15 ft ladder stand...

Re: Some Crossbow newbie questions
I am also a new Axiom shooter, just having bought one last March. I have not had any such problems, but I might suggest a little different approach. I would try shooting from a very solid bench rest with front and rear shooting bags. This is how I got things sighted in because that way many of the v...

Re: Need assistance for first crossbow
Here is what I can tell you. I have an Axiom that I just bougth last March. Sunday morning I used it to kill my first crossbow deer. It was a decent size buck that I shot at about 18 yards. I was using Schwaker 125 grain broadheads on Firebolt arrows with Nocturnal nocks. At the shot I could see the...

Re: Mechanical or Fixed Broadhead
I just managed to kill my first deer with my new Axiom Sunday morning. Used a 125 grain Schwaker and a Fire Bolt with a Nocturnal nock. The shot was from a ladder stand at about 18 yards. What a deal!! Watched him work toward the stand for 15 minutes or so and when he stepped out from behind a tree ...
