2023 Moose Hunt - pictures in comments below
Just back from 17 days north of Superior on our annual archery moose hunt. Weather was warmer than normal but the wind was very low for first week. Week two was very warm with couple of days 26-27 degrees. All totalled, we had 7 moose respond to our calling. Only two gave us good shooting opportunit...

Re: OT: Flint Knapping Art
Google a fellow by name of Woody Blackwell. I hunted with him a few times. The man makes his living knapping and he’s one of the worlds finest if not the best. It’s unbelievable what he can make. Guys in camp took a number of pigs with heads he made.

Re: Thinking about buying a smoker
Don,
I will second the Masterbuilt smokers. My 40” electric has been serving me very well for 5-6 yrs now. Does a great job. Wood wise I prefer hickory but apple is close second.

Re: Laser ranging bow sights
I have the Burris Oracle on my 400 Assassin. Great unit, guaranteed for life by Burris. I spoke to one person that had both the Oracle and the Garmin. He said buy the Oracle for sure - better unit. He said the warranty was much better with Oracle and that the Garmin unit was too technical- with a lo...

Re: My Micro lags behind my Matrix a lot
You want penetration, get yourself a 400 BD and use 700 grain arrows. I have 2 x 380’s love them but the the 400 BD will put that heavy arrow through most critters on earth. I put an arrow clean through both shoulders of Bull moose this year at 30 yrds. Go big or go home

Re: Arrow Lethality - Great Info Here
I’ve met Ed and spent fair amount of time discussing his work with him. He knows his stuff and I doubt there is anyone on earth that has done as much field testing and documentation in the archery field. He is a big fan of heavy foc and big broadheads. I have been using 700gr shaft/head in my 400 Bu...

Re: What arrows (Heavy) to get for BD 440?
I’m shooting 700gr arrows out of my 400BD and they fly great. Using a 2219 with a carbon express 4000 shat inside it. The CE 4000 has a 100gr brass insert as well, 100gr G5 Striker to top it off.

Re: TRYING HEAVIER BOLTS
I use a 2219 aluminum shaft with a Carbon Express 4000 carbon shaft glued inside the 2219. A 100 gun brass insert up front and 100 gr G5 striker gets me 700gr total. Takes a lot of noise away and hits like sledgehammer
