Re: As Real as it Gets - Positive COVID Test

Take care of your family and yourself, please. However, if you feel up to it, I for one, and I think the rest of your friends here, would really like to hear how you are doing. We are concerned for you and your family. Hearing good news from you would be cause for rejoicing from us all. Day 12 of S...

As Real as it Gets - Positive COVID Test

My wife, daughter and grand daughter (who both live with us). Just got positive diagnosis for COVID. No point hiding in the bush now. They all became sick last Wednesday. Grand daughter who is 3 seems like she has a mild cold and it is hardly slowing her down at all. My daughter who is mid 20s has l...

O/T - The art of social distancing with style

Spent the weekend social distancing and self-isolating about 10 miles from the nearest other human. The plan was to head up Saturday morning, stop at the cottage, pick up my gear and than fish Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday. In the winter we use snowmobiles to access the cottage as the drivew...

O/T Caffeinated Shiners and a Fun Day

As is my habit I picked up 2 dozen 3 inch shiners late in the day Friday. These get buried in a snow drift until Saturday when they get used. I find the attrition rate is usually nil and it saves time Saturday morning. Saturday morning the wife and I slept in until about 8 had breakfast and headed o...

That looks like an amazing trip! I'm guessing that the photos don't do the light show any justice?
You are correct - photos are a great reminder but don't come close to the real deal. Especially considering my amateur skill level with the camera.

O/T - Dog Sledding and Northern Lights

Just got back from 10 days above the arctic circle in Lapland - Finland. Great cultural trip with lots of cold activities. Favorites were a day spent dog sledding in the bush (we covered about 50 miles) capped off with a beautiful light show that night: Rare-in to go: https://live.staticflickr.com/6...

Thumb looks good after nearly loosing it!
Fish looks awesome too.
Haha! Yeah healed up pretty well. Still doesn't have full feeling but recovered 100% of "pinch strength." Torsional strength (opening jars) is only about 50% - but i can live with that.

Sloppy Sunday Fun

Headed out Sunday for a little fishing action. Didn't get a super early start - probably had something to do with a bottle of Forty Creek the night before. Managed to get going about 10am and trail and ice travel made it a little past 11 am before i wet a line. First spot i set up was dead dead. Sta...

Remembering Kayla

Some may remember a few years back as a community we helped young Kayla raise money for Cancer research. One of the ways we did that was an auction for a custom 380 donated by Xcal. I was the lucky one that ended up with that bow and though I don't typically hunt with it i did make a point to take i...

I will likely spend the time chasing ruffies with the 20 gauge as i filled my 2 tags and one of the BILs. Plus it was a beauty day out...

Re: Trying something new this spring

I started turkey hunting in the fall of 2018. Didn't use a 410 but did go somewhat unconventional. Used my 20 gauge upland gun (o/u beretta) with 7/8 oz number 6. Using that setup i aimed for 25 yards or less and had factory full on top and modified on the bottom for in close work. In our fall hunt ...
