Re: Is this REALLY a crossbow???

Not only is this not a crossbow, I don't think you can call it a bow at all. Bows have limbs. This appears to be spring driven. Bow limbs are actually a type of spring in much the same way the leaf springs on a vehicle are considered springs. Let me muddy the water - All bow limbs are springs but n...

Re: For Normous

Had to work Sat and Sunday. Weekend before was a total cluster #[email protected]&. Got busted twice. The Sunday night in the dark loading the boat onto the trailer I lost my balance and took a header into the lake. Than finally underway on the trail out that poses as a road I blew a tire and lost all the leaf spr...

Re: For Normous

Haha, those little black beach balls are like mischievous monkeys. Last year Patti and I watched a Mama with two little ones on the bait and we laughed so loud that Mama gave a woof and sent them scrambling up trees for a spell till she gave the all clear signal to return clowning around. I leave l...

For Normous

As requested last weekend. Camera has been up for a week and checked it yesterday - 9000+ pics. 7 or 8 different bears hitting my bait. Nothing too remarkable but a couple of decent boars (200-250ish). Good 20% was coons but 80% were bears split about 1/3 daytime and 2/3 night, Boar pics were boring...

Are the bear baits hit yet? Cam photos?
Gotta to be some bears there.
Baits are getting hit. Just put the cams out on Saturday. Should have some pics and maybe a bear next weekend.

Spring Bear Update #1

So my bait has been out for a week. It was hit next day and than every day until Wednesday. In that time they cleaned out about 2/3s or over 200 lbs. Wednesday night the action dried up. To top it off at the cottage we got 5 inches of snow Thursday night and than another 2 inches Friday night. This ...

Got off my #$% and finally got things rolling - Spring Bear

Friday afternoon i re-inflated the zodiac and got the motor(s) out of storage and mounted: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49851242123_9b0decf6ab_k.jpg Took it for an hour long test run on our lake to put it through its paces and to make sure all was good before taking it too far into the backco...

Ice is out. Dock is in. Boat next weekend!

Ice went out on the 24th. A month or so ago my guess was the 28th. The 24th is 16 days earlier than last year. With the ice gone i figured might as well get the dock out as it was a sunny warm day with no wind on Saturday. However floating the dock out of the sheltered bay where it spends the winter...

Any BIG BUCKS hide out in those cedars? :eusa-think:
They do. Especially late season in years where we get a lot of early lake effect snow. About once every 10 years or so they are actually yarded down there on the river bottom before the end of the bow season.

Pandemic Therapy

I am very lucky to have about a half mile frontage on a small river that I can usually count on for some perch and trout in season (2 weeks to go). Alas the fish were uncooperative today - it happens. Either way a day outside is always better than a day inside. Upstream: https://live.staticflickr.co...
