First crossbow bear - total happenstance

Spent the last few days at our place in Nipissing with my son deer hunting. Our bear baits have long gone cold but my son still had a tag as he was unable to make it up during our scheduled bear hunt. Anyways we were set up about 1/4 mile apart hunting some corn and oats i had put out last week. I w...

Re: Blood trailing in the rain

As long as you are not carrying a weapon why would you need permission to use a dog to track a hit deer? Why would that ever be illegal? Welcome to Bantario. In general it is legal to use a dog for recovery in Ontario as long as the dog is registered/licenced as a hunting dog in Ontario. My walker ...

Re: Blood trailing in the rain

Rain = no blood trail. Get a good tracking hound and even than don't leave it long as the rain will eventually eliminate the scent trail as well.

Re: New matrix bulldog 400?

Pretty much what it says. I'm looking at a NIB bulldog 400. Old stock and unopened, question is wasn't there a safety/trigger problem where the bow would discharge on its own? Was there an actual recall or did Excal fix the bows as needed? Hope someone can help with the answer. I know I can get the...

Re: New Bling

Hard to go wrong with a Leopold ,The stock got my attention what is the story their looks great. Stock is a limited edition Y25 relayer made by excal. The bow itself was a custom 380 made by excal and donated to a silent auction to raise money for cancer research on behalf of a young lady named Kay...

2020 Fall Bear Report - Trifecta

The original plan was to head up Monday (Sep 7) night and than hunt Tuesday to Friday chasing my target bear and taking one of the other bears if I ran out of time. My BIL and nephew were also hunting but were on baits all within 1/2 mile of the cottage as they decided the back lake was too much wor...

Re: Coons = denied, Coon proof bear bait

As long as one of them doesn't figure out that he can climb the tree. walk out on the frame, and then drop down onto the barrel....(don't remember seeing a barrel lid.) Cuz if he figures it out, he'll tell everybody else. There is a barrel lid. He would have to hang upside from the top edge of the ...

Coons = denied, Coon proof bear bait

A week ago i put out a prototype coon proof bear bait. I call it the "Pinata" as the bears will be batting it around like a pinata. Basically its a 55 gallon drum that can be lifted so the bottom is up to 5 feet off the ground. It will also prevent the bears from moving a shaker barrel on a lead to ...

Re: Is this REALLY a crossbow???

Not only is this not a crossbow, I don't think you can call it a bow at all. Bows have limbs. This appears to be spring driven. Bow limbs are actually a type of spring in much the same way the leaf springs on a vehicle are considered springs. Let me muddy the water - All bow limbs are springs but n...

Re: For Normous

Had to work Sat and Sunday. Weekend before was a total cluster #[email protected]&. Got busted twice. The Sunday night in the dark loading the boat onto the trailer I lost my balance and took a header into the lake. Than finally underway on the trail out that poses as a road I blew a tire and lost all the leaf spr...
