O/T Taxi Turkeys

Only started hunting gobblers last fall. These are my first two turkeys ever. The hen taken last fall on a walk and stalk. The tom taken this spring calling in the ghillie suit parked at the base of a big old maple tree. Both taken off the same property so they may have actually known each other. ht...

Re: Deer hunting out of state - where to go?

The "one and done" rule currently in the majority of Ontario is definitely helping to drive outside business Its definitely not helping that's for sure Ah well..to be honest its helping push me out of my comfort zone and now I'm looking at travelling to hunt so that one buck tag in Ontario may turn...

Re: converting draw wt from crossbow to vert bow

With all due respect Sir, that is not working out for me. Maybe I have the #'s messed up. My Dad's bow is 28" DL My Axiom is 14.5 DL That's 1.93 My Axiom is 175 DW Divided by 1.93 That's a 90 pound bow? The Axiom get around 288 FPS. With the same weight arrow my Dad's bow is faster and its 50 DL. I...

Re: converting draw wt from crossbow to vert bow

A vertical bow with a draw of 30'' and a 7'' brace hight has a powerstroke of 23''.... I'm mixed up.. Sorry for the typo. To get the factor use powerstroke/powerstroke or drawlength/drawlength. Otherwise the process is the same. The one caveat with this methodology is that it assumes that the effic...

Re: converting draw wt from crossbow to vert bow

I am trying to figure out how to convert the draw wt from crossbow to vert bow and visa versa . Like if I have a crossbow that is 200 pound draw wt. what is that with a vert bow ? You take the draw length you use on vertical bow - say 29 or 30 inches and divide that by the powerstroke on the crossw...

Joe, after reviewing the pics of your thumb, from a few years ago,I think that the 440 might finish the job that the 405 only started. Still makes me about I’ll to look st that.
Well i am guessing that's why God gave me two.

Re: O/T Back Lake Ice Fishing - nice mixed bag

Nice way to spend family time. I'm recovering from eye surgery so I can"t do anything involving strenuous activity. Not supposed to lift anything heavier than 10 pounds. That pretty much eliminates ice fishing. I can't risk having to make a choice between popping an eyeball or letting a big one go....

O/T Back Lake Ice Fishing - nice mixed bag

Headed up to the cabin on Friday afternoon with my wife and son for the weekend. Saturday morning we headed out at about 7 am, stopped and picked up minnows and than drove about 30 km and parked the truck and trailer at the end of the road. From there we went about 25 km on the sled to a back lake t...

Re: What's your take

Thanks for all the feedback. I think i am leaning towards the 440. As for the suggestions to take a trip - i more or less have that covered with another tradition/rule. Can you tell i have some OCD tendencies? Generally i aspire to visit 2 or 3 new countries per year with my wife. Sorta of lost coun...

What's your take

So traditionally every February I buy a new firearm. Past buys have included Sakos, Noslers, Benellis and some Berettas. This year I am thinking if i buy anymore I am going to need another safe. That's not the end of the world but than I got thinking maybe a 440 instead? It's that against a 6.5 CM i...
