Re: Anybody ever eat raw venison?

Well, I have not nor do I want to, I have eaten Steak Tare Tare a few times. I cook my venison. And never cook it past medium rare. I like it rare, I also tend to age my venison a few days to a couple of weeks. It depends if I have access to a walk in Cooler or not at the given time most years its y...

Re: Leupold Scope

Yep and distance, in general it is only a real factor for guys shooting really small groups at some bench rest matches, BR-50 matches come to mind. when 10 shots group in the size of a pencil eraser on a pencil. Is still a tad to big to win. The kind of distance that you would shoot game at is at be...

Re: Leupold Scope

Its a non issue, now there is a trick that I use all the time with my rifle scopes, I shoot mostly leupold and Zeiss on my rifles. You zero your Crossbow at 20 yards, you then put out targets at ten yard intervals, what you want to know how far you have to shoot for the bolt to be spot on where the ...

Re: How long before your first archery deer?

Well I killed my first and only deer as result of a bet with a good friend of mine. He said I couldn't do it, I am a long time rifleman. So I did the Hunter Ed. Archery, then I played with some bows, I settled on an English Long bow and spend 8 months of shooting ever day, I got to the point were I ...

Re: Full Inclusion In Connecticut

My error, you are right, I get an extra hunting time because my land is in zone 12 and we get January! So you think the Ibex is the way to go or should I just go for something more powerful in the Excalibur line. 175 Lbs vs 200+? I appears that It will not take much for me to be reasonably accurate ...

Re: Full Inclusion In Connecticut

Well there is a dealer with in 15 min drive of me, I when over to have a look and a chat, got to shoot an Ibex. First shot dead center @ 20 yards and four more followed the first shot. I decided to buy one. He has some coming in on Tuesday. The Season opens on the 10th, and if my shooting today is a...

Re: Full Inclusion In Connecticut

Thanks guys, I have no plans to go compound, I didn't go that route to begin with why should I do so now. My crossbow of choice is going to be an Excalibur, since its made with hunting in mind. Just so many choices. As for Cabelas, I avoid them like I avoid a PETA convention.

Re: Full Inclusion In Connecticut

I live in East Haddam, Its on the DEEP web page. I am a gun hunter, but with the new laws about ammo and long guns and shotguns, I am right now not inclined to comply with this clear violation of the Constitution. And since I have property to hunt on, the Idea of being able to hunt deer form Sept to...
