It was like I had to reset the trigger by cocking it again. If that makes sense.
The string never moved more than maybe a 64th of an inch when I pulled the trigger.

The retainer does hold the arrow. When I pull the trigger the mechanism moves just enough to pop the arrow out from under the spring retainer.
Yes, the safety was off when I tried to shoot.

I am still new to crossbows. I have an excalibur equinox that is great but now it won't fire. I cocked it, loaded the bolt, and when i pulled the trigger it just popped and the bolt just rolled off the end of the bow hitting at my feet. I re cocked it and tried again with no success.
