Private Messages
I tried to send a couple of private messages the other day and they are still parked in my outbox and never made it to my sent box so I am not sure if I actually sent the messages?

Re: What is this animal?
It looks like a house cat. That would be my vote.

Re: Which Scope
I rescoped all my bows with the vortex Crossfire II crossbow scope. I like the 30mm tube and so far they have worked great for me. They seem to be well built and of high quality at a good price point.

Re: O/T favorite hunting caliber
So for hunting Whitetails in New England in thick forest and mountain laurel I prefer a 20 gauge slug gun. My current favorite is my Thompson Center Encore Pro-Hunter with the 28 inch stainless barrel. It's light, easy to carry and extremely accurate shooting Remington Accu-Tips. For small game in N...

Re: 125 Grain Slick Tricks
So I settled in on the combo I will be using this year. 18.0 inch Zombies, 110 grain front insert, aluminum rear nock at 17 grains, blazer vanes with helical and 125 grain Slick Tricks. Total weight equals 440 grains with an FOC of 19.03% At 40 yards they consistently hit within one half inch of my ...

Buck vs Doe Droppings
So I was scouting a new area today with a buddy and we found some fresh droppings that were bunched up into a few large clumps. My buddies take was the droppings were made by a buck as they were large clumps and he feels does droppings are always individual pellets. I have heard this theory before b...

125 Grain Slick Tricks
I have been experimenting with some different combinations of broadheads, FOC and total bolt weights and have found that with my setup the 125 grain slick tricks fly real well and seem to have great penetration with a total bolt weight of 432 grains. They consistently hit within a half inch of my fi...

Re: How many broadheads?
I am in the same boat as everybody else. I would be embarrassed to tell how many broadheads I have. I am always experimenting.
My wife lumps it all together and just says I own to much "hunting crap".

E Bikes For Hunting
Has anybody tried using E-Bikes for hunting when you need to get pretty far into the woods? I see you can purchase trailers as an accessory and was wondering if you can really haul out a deer with one? Motor vehicles like quads are not allowed on public land in my state so the E -Bike concept looks ...

Re: Quill penetration test
I was thinking the heavier arrows would have the greater penetration but your results show the opposite which has me a little perplexed.

Re: Hunting Thick Mountain Laurel
Thanks for the advice everybody. Lot's of good suggestions. It's definitely challenging but I think the the laurel has possibilities. I like the idea of hunting the edges especially on the side that has large oak stands adjacent. My guess is the deer start to filter out in the late afternoon into th...

Hunting Thick Mountain Laurel
I am looking to hunt a very large track of public land that is approximately 2,000 acres in size. It’s mostly hard woods with large numbers of red and white oak but what has caught my attention is an area of very thick mountain laurel and hemlock that is 200 – 300 acres in size. The mountain laurel ...

Re: Eva Shockey
I have had the pleasure to meet Jim and Eva several times at the SHOT show the last few years. They are both great people along with all of Jim's crew. I am doing a moose and grizzly hunt with Rogue River in 2022 and Jim spent close to 30 minutes talking to me about my hunt last year at SHOT. He is ...

Thunderhead 'O' Rings
Last year I purchased some 85 grain Thunderheads and was very pleased that they hit the same holes as my field points and they seem very very sharp. My question is why do they have 'O' rings and what is the purpose of the 'O' rings? If someone can shed some light on this it would be appreciated? I h...
