Re: info for a rem 700

My go to rifle is a Model 700 Classic in .35 Whelen. My left handed son shoots a Remington 7600 pump in .35 Whelen also. They both like the Federal Premium 225 gr Bear Claws and 250 gr Nosler reloads. Not the fastest round, but sure puts the whack on game.

Re: Trail cam selfie

I was going to ask the same thing. It looks to me to be dry stacked flat rock. We have a few fence lines that are stacked stone. Every Spring there would be another crop of them to remove from the field. I guess the freeze and thaw would bring them up.

Oh yeah, great pic!

Re: New Member, non owner.... Updated

Just can't imagine that Excal would have any groundbreaking new bows in 2015. It would be hard to one up the entire Matrix line. If the 405 ain't enough bow for any guy to hunt with, then I would just stick with a rifle. I completely agree. Perhaps they will so something along the lines of a better ...

Re: New Member, non owner

An update, of sorts. After much research and deliberation, I just purchased my first "real" crossbow. I stumbled across a lightly used Kodabow Zulu. I got enough of a good deal on it that I will still be able to buy a new Excalibur when the time comes. This bow will give me some much neede...

Re: Deer ribs

I use a narrow 8" fillet knife to get the meat from between the ribs, it works great. We grind the strips with other scraps and make extruded "Slim Jim" type smoked sausages. Very tasty with little waste.

Pheasant hunting with a crossbow

I know everyone is looking forward to deer season, but has anyone taken a pheasant with their crossbow? I bagged one with my longbow and a judo pointed flu flu arrow. It took me all weekend and many shots to actually kill one. I dusted a couple, but you really have to hit then solid to bring one dow...

Bad Crossbow Luck

I've been researching my first crossbow purchase for a couple of months. I decided to purchase a used Excalibur to get some string time prior to making my final decision. I recently accepted a contract job in Oregon. Well, it turns out that owning a crossbow in Oregon may be illegal. I've read confl...

Bolt or Arrow?

Okay, I'd like to know the difference between a Bolt and an Arrow, and why? I'm a newb, but doing lots of reading and learning fast.
Thanks.

Re: A great afternoon

I'm an engineer, to a fault. I research the gizzards out of things and never make snap decisions. Besides, that would take all of the fun out of it. The M355 is on my short list though. :)
In the interim, I'm thinking of buying a good used bow, just to get some arrow time while I'm learning.

A great afternoon

I'm working from home, just completed a program that is due Tuesday, watching Rio Bravo with John Wayne and Dean Martin, and learning about crossbows. I just broke open a Lime-a-Rita, all I need now is to make up my mind at what crossbow I need to buy.
Life is good.

Congrats! You just made a polititian arrow, they don't know if they are coming or going! It would go well with a Jackalope mount. :D
