Turkey Hunting
If this should be in the Off Topic section, I apologize. It has to do with the field dressing of a turkey. I have always plucked and when it came to the beard/breast area, removed skin and gel completely. I have been told the gel substance under this skin does not need to be removed. What is the rig...

Re: Winter camping in a canvas tent.
There was earlier mention of a cot by Chris4570. I do not carry and use a commercial cot for moose hunting. I will try to explain my set up. I cut 2 trees( poplar) about 3" diameter 12 ft long. I use the poly fur bags (3-4) cutting the stitching in the bottom corners for 8". Run the poplar...

TPM: Interesting that you reveal those soft spots -- After I got it for her, I ,of course, used it a few times and fell in love with it. I was looked high and low and finally found a slug barrel for it as well. I have since bought myself a 20 o/u and have enjoyed it this fall. Up until this fall my ...

Re: The Toronto Sportsman Show
Good luck at the show. I worked it several times and always enjoyed it. I have to agree with Pyd regarding the firearms but at least the Hunting Hall offers a spring peek at what is new for this year. How wonderful to have a spring Turkey season, otherwise no hunting themes would be present. I don`t...

Re: Knives???
A knife is a very personal or individual item it seems. Over the years I have tried different knives. It is what handles best in the task at hand that determines the choice. I have the Russell belt knife -- trout and bird model now made by Grohman, since 1965. I use it for gutting deer, skinning, an...
