Re: Matrix 380

I'm not sure where the 1/4" brace height value is coming from; that's not in the new manual posted on the website. Don't confuse brace height with the distance of the string from the REDS - two different measurements. Your brace height should be between 1/2" (or 5/8" depending on wher...

Re: 380

You would need to be shooting 425-450gr total arrow weight to make that scope work at the 350fps setting. Also, are you saying that you have the center crosshair set at 10 yards? I'm pretty sure that should be 20, 30, 40, and 50 yd increments so that could also be throwing things off.

Re: Matrix 355 speed question

Remember that Excalibur's advertised speeds on the Matrix bows are with a 350gr combo (arrow and tip). This would require the 250gr Diablo arrow and a 100gr tip. So ironically, the Matrix bows will not shoot their advertised speeds out of the box with included equipment because they are shipped with...

Re: String Broke after firing 8 times

If you haven't already, download the new owner's manual from the Excalibur website. Your bow probably came with an outdated manual. The new manual briefly explains brace height and adjustment if you aren't 100% sure what everyone is referring to. Even the new manual contradicts itself in places, but...

Re: String Broke after firing 8 times

I think what the other members were referring to was whether an incorrect brace height could have caused the string to break. It's pretty much a foregone conclusion that these bows will need adjusted right out of the box, but Excalibur has not acknowledged this yet. See other threads for details. I'...

Re: Matrix 330

Check out page 24 of the new instruction manual for expected speeds with varying arrow weights. Each bow is listed with arrow weights from 350gr and up.

It looks like all of the advertised speeds for the matrix bows are with a 100gr tip.

Re: How to?

The plastic nocks on my Black Eagle arrows were press-fit, so a pair of pliers easily twisted them out. I believe some may be glued, in which case you would probably need to use a heat gun to loosen the bond.

Re: How do you pull a bow with 240lb ?

Coming from a compound crossbow with a 185 lb pull, I honestly don't think the pull weight of my Matrix 380 is much worse. I suppose the only difference is that there is no let-off with the recurve, so you've got to grit your teeth and get the string all the way to the top, with no relief until it c...

Re: Crossbow targets for broadheads?

From what I've seen, the Block (crossbow specific) doesn't do well with speeds around 350 fps and up. Again referencing the neighbor's Barnett, even when the target was new he routinely made shots burying the fletchings in the target.

Crossbow targets for broadheads?

Was wondering what target(s) everyone is using with their Excalibur and broadheads. Currently I've got a Morrell Bone Collector 400 field point target that works great, but I'm having trouble finding a good target that will hold up to high speed crossbows and broadheads. My neighbor has a Block cros...

Not at all, and I apologize if I came off too defensive. We're on the same page here. I was just arguing that blame should not be placed on the consumer in this situation.

Re: Quality Issues Waiting to Happen...

Maybe if this dead horse gets beaten enough, Ecalibur will address the problem. I'm new here so I'm just offering my perspective, but it appears this has been a problem for a while, and I don't want the company's reputation to suffer, like the rest of you.

Re: Quality Issues Waiting to Happen...

One shot Scott: "heaven help us if it gets a flat. itll be fords fault" It would be Ford's fault if new vehicles were sold with 5 lbs of pressure in the tires instead of 40 lbs and the buyer had no way of knowing that this was not the correct value, and that the valve stems required a spec...

Re: Quality Issues Waiting to Happen...

"Isn't it up to the user of the product(inset question mark here. that key is broken on my desktop|) Excalibur did their job, installing the string at the proper brace height. They also did the job of including that info in the manual that accompanies the bow. Its on dvds, its on the interwebs...
