Summit Viper is my go to climber and the one I've had the most success with.

Do-It-Yourself Butcher???

Hey guys, My butcher just jacked up the price on me and I'm starting to think I might do it myself from here on out. That being said I don't have meat grinder right now or anything else I might need and don't know anything about them. Anyone an opinion on a good one or other essential equipment ? Ev...

Re: Rage vs. Boltcutters

When I first started I used Bolt Cutters because they were recommended and did have some success. I switched to mechanical broadheads because I liked the fact they give you a little wiggle room if your shot isn't perfect. I use the NAP FOC broadheads and I'm 3 for 3 with them now. Never hunted with ...

Re: Can i buy a Excalibur Matrix 405 Mega without problems?

I have a 405 for two years and have had no issues. I use the standard Diablo bolts and a NAP FOC (170 Grain) head.

Fastest Crossbows 2015?

Found a list of the fastest crossbows in 2015. Excalibur 405 is the most reliable for sure, but does anyone have any to add?

Re: Which is more accurate for the 405, 100 or 125gr.?

I'd second the brass inserts on a 100 grain. You want to optimize your front of centre. With the Diablos I normally go with 150/170 grain broadhead.

Re: Matrix 405 or 380?

Either will do the job. I have a 405, and it's shooting 380 through a Chrony, with standard Diablos and a NAP FOC which is 170 grains. I've only taken one shot at a deer and I dropped her pretty quick. For the little extra weight/length I'd go for the 405.

Crossbow Fishing ?

Hey guys. Just wondering if anyone has tried on this crossbow fishing kit on a Matrix. It's legal for carp in Ontario and looks like fun. Thought I could rig it up to my 405

Re: Compound xbow brand

Anyone ever try a Killer Instinct compound. I'm a big recurve fan but I saw this thing on a website and wouldn't mind hearing some first hand feedback.
Comes with a TriggerTech too.

Re: Matrix 405 speeds

Mine 405 shoots around 380 with a 170 FOC practice tip. I cannot recall exactly but I think I gained around 5 fps when I switched to the 150 grain tip.

Re: FOC Broadhead

I just switched from Xbow Slick Tricks to the F.O.C.s and don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. The Slick Tricks are a great broadhead but let me tell you these things do some serious damage.

Re: What helped you harvest a deer?

405 + FOC + RangeFinder / Luck = Deer Hunting Success

Actually I would say all the stuff pre season is the most important. Scouting, trimming lanes, practicing range & angles, and more scouting.

Re: Crossbow fasteners-keeping them from oxidation

I use WD-40 which works great. It does have a bit of smell but I don't find it's to bad. Just have to be vigilant about drying it out.
