Re: What is the best file for trigger work

Sorry Ken . Just making fun of people who want the lightest possible trigger with no regard for safety . My thoughts were to show yes a rifle trigger can be super light . But it would seem absurd to have that light of a trigger on a crossbow . I can't see the link. It's unfortunate that someone wou...

Old school Excaliburs in the bargain cave

Cabelas in Dundee Michigan has 4 or 5 older excaliburs in their bargain cave. I was being drug around by my five year old and so only got to take a look at a couple. One was a vortex and the other I looked at was the axiom (which I know is still in production). Anyway they had a few other aluminum b...

Re: removing the adf on a micro

Longbow Joe,

I'm with you on the ADF. I'm a real snob for good design and I found the ADF to be an awkward solution at best. I recently swapped mine for a non-ADF so that I could bed the rail to the trigger assembly and so that I can de-cock without having to take my shoes off.

Re: Matrix 355 Trigger

Excalibur should do it right the first time. I took mine apart, no attempt made to remove the rough machining marks on the contact surfaces. Excalibur could remedy the situation entirely by spending an extra 5 minutes on each trigger before assembly. Why don't they? $$$$$ I guess.

Re: another newbie question about targets?

I asked the same question a month or so ago. About 75% of the folks suggested a rineheart 18-1, so that is what I bought.

Re: Ti64 Titanium Fastners

Another thing I've noticed is that the 4 shoulder bolts just wont stay tight. I used blue Loctite on all the screws and these four are the only ones that keep working loose after a shooting session. I've let them cure overnight too. Is it possible for Loctite to go bad? This is an older bottle. It ...

Re: Vortex XBR Short Review

The research that I did indicated this is what the factory would do. I am not the first person to do this; It has been done many times.

Re: Vortex XBR Short Review

shadytree, at what yardage did you set it and how much did you have to turn the lens carrier to get there? thanks, norm Set it at 40 yards. Turned the lens about 1/4 turn counterclockwise. Just set it up on my rest at the 40 yard line. Put the scope on 10 power and turned the lens as I moved my hea...

Re: Vortex XBR Short Review

I did buy a strap wrench and reset the parallax to 40 yards. Real easy to do. Now I am happy.

Vortex XBR Short Review

I took advantage of the $250 Vortex XBR closeout. For that price, the scope is an incredible deal. It has EXCELLENT glass, very positive and repeatable adjustments (1 MOA per click!), good light gathering, and (IMHO) the best reticle for crossbows that I have seen. I am not a fan of the speed ring t...

Range Time: 30 yard zero suprise

Had a near windless day in southern michigan, so I spent some time at the range with my 380 and it's new Vortex XBR. Being new to crossbows, I am still discovering all the nuances. After shooting for a while, the string had stretched a bit. When I put another twist in it my zero changed. I had to ad...

What was the first Matrix?

I bought a Matrix 380 last year and was curious about the history of the Matrix line. I know they are relatively new. What was the first model and in what order did they introduce the others? Also, do they all have the same limbs, with just a different power stroke? Are there other differences (besi...

Re: What's up with the Vortex crossbow scope?

I just bought one to get away from the speed ring concept. On my 380 with a tact zone I was at something like 5x magnification with the correct setting on the speed ring. That is too much mag for some of the hunting I do. The shooting world uses bot MOA and Mills without any issues. It just depends ...

Shipping a scope from the US to Canada

So I have someone who wants to buy my tact zone. Thing is he is in Canada and I am in the US. Anybody had any problems with customs? I had an antique Brno rifle stock seized by US customs once. It did not turn out well. They destroyed it. I want to avoid another incident.
