Re: Vortex Viper XBR & parallax adjustment
I don't understand why this is such a contested topic. What parallax adjustment does in put your reticle on the same plane as your target. If it is not on the same plane then you have to focus on either the reticle or the target, cause it ain't gonna to be both. This problem is somewhat alleviated b...

Re: Vortex Viper XBR & parallax adjustment
Shady, I'm curious if you shot the XBR before adjusting the parallax, and if so, how much of a difference did you observe?
I did shoot it a bit. Problems become more apparent with increased magnification. Off a rest at 30 yards if you set the crossbow up to an aiming point. Then ste...

Re: Vortex Viper XBR & parallax adjustment
I reset the parallax on mine just as you describe, I think it was 1/4 turn. I've had no problems. Anyone who says the parallax in not an issue with the XBR is kidding themselves. In a competitive situation with a custom fit stock you can have consistent cheek weld, but anyone shooting competitively ...

Re: Grizzly Tigger
I'm sorry people are giving you a hard time about your technique. I can tell you that you are in the right. It is not your technique, it's the trigger. Excal triggers are VERY simple. The safety is just a cam that slides over the back of the sear to block it from going up. It sounds like you have so...

Re: Air brakes vs. Db killers
Can anyone explain to me what those little knobbly things hanging off the side of the db killers do? I am skeptical. Absorb vibration. So that's kind of an obvious answer. I was hoping someone might have some insight into the actual function. Marketing is one thing, but how do they actually work? T...

Re: Accudraw
I have one on mine. It might not be of benefit, but you can check out the thread titled, "custom matrix". I don't know the tensile strength, bit the string seems a bit light for the higher pull of the faster excals. There is plenty of room on the spool for a heavier weight string. More imp...

Re: Custom Matrix
WOW! Thank you for the follow up report and pictures. That is truly gorgeous. Did I mention I love that! This is, I'm guessing, a labour of love because it's not something you'll be offering on the trading post....a duplicate type bow that is. Paul Moon on archerytalk suggested making ...

Re: Custom Matrix
I forgot to ask, how does the bow sound at the shot compared to a regular xbow and how's the vibration? Paul It's more rifle like. I find it vary similar to shooting a 22 in regards to sound and vibration. This is all subjective, but it seems to have a more distinct recoil like the kick of a 22, al...

Re: Custom Matrix
Wanted to try my hand at predator hunting. Also I go to Florida annually and see some night hunts for hogs in my future. The night vision was the reason for the full length picatinny rail. http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah251/SawyerBee/IMG_0209_zps53ay4jbs.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/album...

Re: Custom Matrix
I went with 14.5" arrows to keep the heads inside the riser. No more getting your arrow knocked askew when going through thick brush.

Re: Custom Matrix
The trigger is stock excal with my previously posted trigger mod. It connects to a linkage that pierces the pistol grip. Inside the grip is a spring mechanism that acts as a two stage, whereby the trigger has about 1/4" take up during which the spring preloads the trigger a bit. You hit a nice ...

Re: Custom Matrix
The accudraw came mods came out real clean. It works well for me. It will be a big improvement for me over fighting a rope cocker in a stand. I had a situation last season where I shot a buck and it just stood there. I heard the arrow hit and the buck jumped a little, but it just walked around the s...

Re: Custom Matrix
Finished her up. Shot it quite a bit and am pretty happy with the build. Ended up jettisoning the tool steel rails as they warped significantly during heat treating. What I am now using is delrin. It's is works great, was easier to machine, and cost me about $5 verse the $70 I had in tool steel and ...
