Re: Modified my 380 buttstock

I bought some grip tape that they use on handguns, but didn't use it because of the ridge in the buttstock. I could have cut small strips, but chose not to. If worse comes to worse, I can sand the buttpad flat and attach a sheet to cover everything. Right now the buttpad isn't that bad, my major com...

Re: Modified my 380 buttstock

It looks better in person, the camera flash really emphasizes the dimples, I took the photo inside my blind. This was my first attempt, so it didn't come out as spectacular as I'd liked, and I'm pretty artistic. The plastic of the buttstock is different than the polymer on the handguns. The plastic ...

Modified my 380 buttstock

The buttpad area on my 380 is a little slick, and could be rougher to stick to your shoulder better. I've seen the posts on using Plastidip and grit on the buttpad. I haven't tried that, but probably would work the best if you don't want to alter your stock, and is removable. The other plus I see is...

Re: Just scored a very lightly used 380

Was that on eBay and Craigslist awhile back? Right after I bought my 380 from Wyvern, I saw a guy selling a 380 for about the same price. He had it for a year, and shot it very little. If I would have had the cash I would have bought it as a second bow. Good score, you stole it!

It won't cost you much to try it but I'm not sure Plasti-dip will be durable enough to use on the stirrup? :)

You're probably right. The truck bed liner sounds like a good idea to try though.

Re: Help me mod my 380

X2 on the claw contour sling, quality scope, and tigger tech trigger. To that I'd add a custom Flemish string, and the. Dip the butt stock in plasti-dip to prevent slipping. http://rs32.pbsrc.com/albums/d4/drewzintense/buttstock_zps4f59ec49.jpg?w=480&h=480&fit=clip Great idea! I thought the...

Re: 1st crossbow kill

I was looking through my photos, and it looks like as the deer was walking, the leg moved back and I shot through the top of the leg, then through the heart. The rear of the leg is cut more than I thought too. Love the RamCats!

Easton Flipside 3 tube quiver

Anyone use a Easton hip quiver? I was wondering if they were for field points only, or can you use them to carry three arrows with broadheads?

I detach the quiver from the bow anyway in the blind, and was wondering if the hip quiver would be a little lighter and easier to use.

Re: 1st crossbow kill

Thanks everyone. The entry shot was right behind the front rear shoulder, and just touched and cut the hide on the rear of the leg. Exit wound is obvious. I'm glad I bought the Excalibur 380, phenomenal bow. I'm on some other crossbow sites, and it's amazing how many problems people are ha...

1st crossbow kill

I went out Saturday morning, and got in the woods right before daylight, and the deer were already at my blind and ended up scaring them off. I went out yesterday (Sunday) morning about an hour before daylight. I used a gland/curiosity scent and hung it on some felt pads in the low hanging branches ...

Arrow puller

I finally sighted in my 380 today on my 18-1 at 20 yards. Last week or so I didn't have an arrow puller, so I couldn't remove the arrows from my target. I stopped at my local Walmart, and they had one of the fluorescent-colored Allen arrow pullers, which worked okay, but was nothing to brag about. A...

Re: Flemish string

Twist from one end, it makes no difference as long as CCW while looking at the other end when twisting. It is a good idea to shoot one in, then tie the ends up to preserve the brace height when removed, and install, and shoot in the other string, and start hunting! That's a great idea. Thanks for s...

Re: Sighting in my 380 - red dot help

I would start practicing at 15 yards and advance your target in 5 yard increments then record your trajectory using the dot scope. Next, tape a small drop chart to your stock and cover it with clear packing tape to protect it. I used this method for about 5-6 deer seasons with my dot scope in the p...

Sighting in my 380 - red dot help

Finally got a chance to shoot my bow today. I set my Rinehart 18-1 about 20 yards away, and shot in the center circle, a little low and to the right. I'm using an Aimpoint Micro borrow off another rifle for now, and maybe in time for winter bow I'll get a scope or pick one up before next fall bow. I...
