Re: A Little Piece of History

That's great to repurpose something that will preserve a bit of history. Would be nice to get a small engraved brass plate put on it to signify its origin.

Re: O/T turkey gun ready to shoot.

If you aren't satisfied with the way it shoots rifled slugs, there may be another option if available. I have a Browning A-bolt shotgun with the rifled choke tube, that gun will cloverleaf lightfield saboted slugs @ 100 yds.
Just something to keep in mind.

Re: O/T Shotgun Turkey Hunters

I shot a bunch of turkeys with just a basic 3" mag. O/U 12ga., I have now gone to a 870 supermag with a red dot sight and am really happy with that combo.
One thing already mentioned, definitely pattern your gun.

Re: Ticks on deer

Same up here in the Poconos Joe, got a buck during the second last week of archery and it was loaded with ticks. Like you I spray all my hunting clothing with permethrin, none on me since I started doing that. I was always outside, hunting arrowheads, hunting both small and large critters, and fishi...

Re: Seeking opinions

I realize you asked about 143gr. bullets, but I'll throw this at you! I have hunted with both 600 and 660 Remington Magnums in 6.5 Rem. Mag. for years. Due to the magazine length I couldn't load 140's because I had to seat them too deep, but the 129gr. Hornady Spire Point met the task. Those bullets...

Re: Fresh Rubs and Scrapes ?

From what I have encountered over the years there are primary scrapes and secondary ones, find a primary scrape and you should be in business. Basically when we hunted Maine, find the doe and the buck will be there eventually, always good to find multiple scrapes and rubs in an area, just hope it's ...

Re: How old is old

I'm 72, might have slowed down a step or two  but still at it. My younger buddy, at 67, and I, brought a buck mostly uphill about a mile on a deer cart this year, 20 yds. and stop, 20 yds. and stop, took awhile but we got it out, no way would we be hunting where we were if we had to drag. He h...

Re: Tick twister

It doesn't seem to have an odor when dry. It is deadly to cats while wet, but not to dogs, I don't believe it is harmful to humans if used as directed.
