Re: How old is old

I'm 72, might have slowed down a step or two  but still at it. My younger buddy, at 67, and I, brought a buck mostly uphill about a mile on a deer cart this year, 20 yds. and stop, 20 yds. and stop, took awhile but we got it out, no way would we be hunting where we were if we had to drag. He h...

Re: Garmin eTrex 10 GPS F/S

Dang! If I wouldn't have just bought my third etrex 10 that would be gone, I just paid $74.19 with Pa tax for one on sale. These are overall good units, toggle switch is a little touchy and it can be a little tricky to stumble through a custom setup, but if an old buzzard like me can figure it out I...

Re: To pee or not to pee

Pee doesn't seem to bother them, just don't poop all around a stand!

Re: Tick twister

It doesn't seem to have an odor when dry. It is deadly to cats while wet, but not to dogs, I don't believe it is harmful to humans if used as directed.

Re: Tick twister

I realize the post is about a tool to remove ticks, but the best thing to do is to try to keep them off of you by treating clothing with permethrin. It's been discussed on here before, ever since I started treated clothing with it I have never had a tick on me while turkey or archery hunting. If the...

Re: My new DIY Shooting stick

Excellent redneck engineering!
I used part of aluminum crutches to fabricate transducer mounts for 2 boats, works perfect, wonder how many other things can be made out of them.

Re: Water Holes for Deer

Many years ago I found a water hole in the woods while archery hunting with a bunch of heavily used trails coming to it, OH BOY! I put a tree stand there for gun season and didn't see hide nor hair of a single deer. Guess they were too busy evading other hunters to come for water, seemed like there ...

Sorry for the loss of your best friend, may he RIP.
Unfortunate, but as each year passes, and we are still here, there will be more and more of our friends no longer with us.

Re: Truglo opti-speed crossbow Scope

I just saw that same scope in the latest Bass Pro flyer @ $199, I did a Google search on it and saw that it was on sale at Dicks.
Your option weather you want to spend your money there or not, but just figured I would give a heads up to anyone that might be interested.

Truglo opti-speed crossbow Scope

I don't know how good these are, but Dicks sporting goods has them on sale for $90.97---regularly $199, I just ordered one for a backup just in case!
From what I read on them they don't seem to be a bad scope.

Re: O/T inline - muzzlerloader

I shoot a .50 inline and a .54 flintlock, I use sabots in both using Hornady XTP pistol bullets and 2F black powder. Both guns are accurate and I'm satisfied with their performance on deer I've shot with both of them. I need to clean the barrel after shooting a plastic sabot to be able to load it ea...

Same here, walk out the back door and start shooting, also can fire the flintlock there if I want to clean it.

That's great, good to read things about the positive side of people. You are being taught well, your family is giving you something that you will benefit from for the rest of your life.
