Last 5 days of deer season

I am looking for a specific spike and a specific doe. My brother found a shed last year from one side of the spike that is mangled and he is still a spike with a mangled right side this year. There is a lone doe That did not have any babies last year and travels only alone this year. If I see either...

Re: FPS v. Penetration

But I don't see anything with crossbows, or that compares the exact same arrow or bolt at different speeds.

FPS v. Penetration

Is there a resource that shows penetration tests of the same weight arrow with the same weight head at different speeds?

When does speed make a real difference in penetration, with the same projectile?

How much cutting diameter makes a differnce?

I'm wondering what the real difference is between different cutting diameters of broadheads in hunting.

If a fixed blade is 1 inch and you got to a 1 1/8th cut does it mean a lot? How about 1 3/16th?

If an expandable is 1 1/2 inch and you go to a 2 inch, what does that really get you?

Last 2018 buck with Axiom

I went out Friday afternoon in the rain. A buck that had never been seen on our camera came in. At 20 yards I hit him through the lungs. I waited 10 minutes and called Dad. We followed blood for about 20 yards and it seemed to end. Then it started to really pour down and the blood washed away. We we...

Hunting in the rain?

Our buck and doe season ends on Sunday and it is supposed to rain on and off. We have a doe and spike season until Feb 4th but the long term forecast shows it might rain then too. Every time it rains there are a ton of deer getting their picture taken by our camera so I know that getting a shot is g...

Re: This close to getting a new XB!

I can't cock the Axiom. I am too short and too weak. My Dad has to cock it for me. If we get one that is harder to cock its still Dad's job to do it. Funny, the school computer keeps blocking certain words and I have to overwrite them....lol.

Re: Extreme foc heavy bolts

we're using Zombie Slayer's with 110 grain insert and 150 grain Sonic head. Weighs 470 something grains. Very accurate from my Axiom. The marks on the scope are 2 inches off at 30 yards and 7 inches low at 40 yards. Dad put a sticker on the stock with the information on it so we know, but we're not ...

This close to getting a new XB!

My brother and I tried to convince Dad that we need a new crossbow. We tried to convince him that it would be great to have something smaller and faster. After all, it would fit in our ground blind better and be easier for us to carry. It would also have a little more power for better penetration an...

Re: Spitfire Performance

I like the Sonic Bolt from American Broadhead. Cut on contact, razor sharp replaceable blades, fixed head and flies to exact same spot as my field points. I'm not sure of the cost - Dad pays for them!

I've got to get out more often!

My Dad just sent me some of the trail camera pictures from our little property all taken at the 20 yard mark from our pop-up blind. We are blessed to have 3 buck and 2 doe tags where I live. I have been missing some really nice deer! https://s18.postimg.org/fks6lqmcl/WGI_0003.jpg https://s18.postimg...

Re: 2017 DEER HUNTING CONTEST FOR ARCHERS

I love my Excalibur but today I used my vertical bow. I can barely pull back 42 pound draw weight by myself and it is a little more challenging for me because I have to do everything myself. But I still love the sonic broadheads but these are 100 grain and my crossbow uses 150 grains. I can ride my ...
