Re: OT/Burning wood

We heated with wood for years. We have lots of poplar and red oak in my area.
Stihl or Husqvarna would be my choice. I runs Stihls for all my small gas tools

Re: Salt on old wounds

That is an excellent buck!! ...and now you know the rest of the story. I took a shot at a really big buck 2-3 years ago and couldn't believe I missed. I looked for blood and the buck didn't run like he'd been hit. I looked and looked but never found him. So I don't know what happened to him. I think...

Re: Graphic Bad Guy Removal From Church

6 seconds. From the time the bad guy presents to the time he's down. That's pretty good! The first victim was just too slow on the draw. The guy who dropped him made a head shot. He must be 15-20 yards away. That's really good considering the adrenaline. Bet it will be a while until Texas has anothe...

Maybe, I would have liked to have made it in 2019 but couldn't get it lined out. We'll see how the year pans out

Re: Morning or afternoon hunts

I prefer sitting in the morning because I love seeing the woods wake up and identifying and tracking deer is much easier I also struggle with "...am I leaving too soon?" but I tend to hint more in the afternoon. If I hunt in the morning I come up and eat some grits and sausage and then take a 2 hour...

Re: BC Proposal to BAN Scopes on Crossbows

I spent two hours the other day trying to help a neighbor who made a bad shot on a nice buck. He was using a vertical compound at about 30 yards. We never recovered that deer. I believe he is still alive and I have him on camera. Now whether he survives until next year waits to be seen. I believe so...

Re: Last day buck

Nice buck. I shot one very similar to that earlier this year. I rarely see bucks larger than that where I hunt.

Re: Excalibur Kid pulled it off

I believe the idea was to remove that particular button buck because of his unusual characteristics. I wonder how your statistics match up to the harvest numbers in South Carolina. I am not sure our statistics are watched that closely. They are trying to encourage hunters here to let younger bucks w...

Re: Seeking opinions

I have 2 savage rifles, a 30-06 for me and a .243 youth version for my kids. I hunt in an area with a max shot of 120 yards and I am sure they can out shoot my failing eyes. I agree with Dan, the big bonus is I don't have to feel bad about putting wear on them. I was hunting with a Remington 200th a...

Re: Loading pictures

I don't know about other hunting forums, but all my other forums host all the pictures. I don't post pictures here because I don't want to mess with a third party hosting service. And when the 3rd party hosting service decides to charge, like photo bucket did, all the links get broken and the thread...

Re: How old is old

I'm 50. My body feels much older from years of hard use. My mind still feels 20. Too bad they don't match!
