Did you check the linkage itself? I have seen instances, one of which was my own, when the linkage contacts the front trigger screw and causes all sorts of problems

I loaded up 40 rounds for the Whelen initial load. Started low and worked up 3 rounds per load stopping 1/2grain short of max due to the overwhelming annocdotal information that that'll be the sweet spot. I was tired. Too tired and I knew it, I should have stopped but I didn't. Loaded all 40 rounds....

...Normous...I use the finest mill sand paper folded to scuff the vane...the folded sandpaper fits perfectly in the valley of the vane....How do you perform said task? I also use a syringe to lay down the glue...these syringes are one use only and must be discarded...you can buy a bunch from China ...
