Re: Strange thing happened with Dead Zone
Mark, I don’t think pressure would make a marked difference on something as slow as a bolt but a slight headwind or crosswind might possibly make it flakey. I will say my factory scope had me thinking things were “crazy” too until I replaced it. I think much of the ballistics changes in firearms bas...

Re: Strange thing happened with Dead Zone
I wouldn’t worry about him Chris. Just go see any off his posts on HuntingNet.com and you will understand his mentality. I can assure you I’m not on hunting net and I can assure jansey I have no reason to “argue” but if you think I’m just gonna roll over you’d be wrong. Its in my nature to ...

Re: Strange thing happened with Dead Zone
Jansey, If using the same crosshair POA gives you a 9” MPBR (22-40yds) within 18 yards, more power to ya. Apparently your chosen method does work for you but a novice possibly suffering from excitement and a quick shot could run into some trouble. Its pretty easy to misjudge yardage in the field wit...

Re: Do Air Brakes or Reds Affect Speed?
The only reason I’m even trying them is just to see if it slows down screws from loosening and I cannot rightly give an opinion until I try it.

Re: Strange thing happened with Dead Zone
The reason I don’t guesstimate with the crossbow and like ballistics circles and yardage flags is because if you are guesstimating with your crosshairs and your yardage, it leaves double the room for error especially when you have a palm sized quick kill zone on a hog. I’ve killed an extreme amount ...

Re: Do Air Brakes or Reds Affect Speed?
The bumpers I bought per the other thread weigh 2 1/4 ounces total for both, it does lessin the vibration. The sound went from the twang to a thud. My brace height is still high because my string is still stretching. My points of impact for some reason is higher eventhough my brace height is too hig...

Re: Strange thing happened with Dead Zone
Do you know if you ordered an older discontinued bolt or the new prostaff crossbow?
I was just wondering if there was much difference

Re: Strange thing happened with Dead Zone
I think if Nikon would come out with a version for faster bows like Trij’s ACOG did, they would take a bigger bite out of the market.
If you knock the glass out of those Deadzones, they make pretty good fishing weights.

Mark, you can go to the spot on page and plug in your numbers. I choose the Barnett 18” bolt. The Nikon will match your setup pretty good

Re: Strange thing happened with Dead Zone
Nikon Bolt or ACOG, but then again I seem to be nit-picky around here about dependability and simplicity of my killing hardware.
Maybe that comes from a lifetime of Military service.

Re: Do REDS make a diff under 340fps?
How can I not agree brother, its right there in print. Doesn’t mean its to my satisfaction. I think it should be sized from the factory to be adjusted a bit. Maybe they could prestretch them. Unless the custom string is more durable than the factory version, its like hunting with a bolt action in a ...
