Considering switching to fixed blade from mechanical
I’ve been displeased with rage crossbow X 125 gr broadheads. Last night on a quartering deer I didn’t get a pass through and in general I don’t seem to get good blood trails so I’m considering fixed blade but would like some input from folks with more experience than me. The G5 montec 125 looks to b...

Re: Not happy with blood trail
The things that affect the amount of blood coming out of deer are: 1. Total surface area of cut 2. Organs cut or veins or arteries 3. Angle of wound channel 4. location of wound channel (high in chest or low in chest) 5. Animals initial reaction - run, walk stiff-legged, prace off, fall - recover -...

Re: Not happy with blood trail
I don't hunt from a tree stand, but would think if the exit hole is low, blood trail should not be a problem. Now your exit hole should be as large as your broad head or in your case at least a 2" exit, or larger. If your cavities have been full of blood, sounds like, as someone else stated yo...

Re: Not happy with blood trail
Some questions: Are you hunting from a tree or ground? If from a tree your entrance hole should be high, & exit hole low & should give a very good blood trail. From a ground blind, both entrance & exit are about same height, & takes longer for the blood to fill the cavity so blood s...

Not happy with blood trail
I’m still relatively new to crossbow hunting (on my third year). I’ve been using the same model broad head since I first started. They flew straight, were accurate, and killed deer. I’ve killed 4 deer with them but since I’ve had no comparison I assumed that all bow kills required intense tracking. ...

Loose Safety Matrix 350
Does Anyone have any fixes or suggestions for how to tighten up the safety on my matrix 350? I will find myself walking and if I don’t check the safety able eventually work itself halfway up. The mechanism is really loose and I’m wondering if that is normal for the model and if there something I can...
