Re: dRStirrup Quiver

I have both the 3 arrow and 5 arrow models. I like the 3 arrow best. It's a well designed and well made product. My hunting broadhead used to be Montec Striker Magnum. It's a fixed blade with a BIG cut. Now I haven't stopped to do actual measurements, but it seemed to me that the 5 arrow version has...

Re: OT--reloading advice

The advice you received was all good. A lot depends on where you prioritize. If limited space is a really big concern, you should consider the Lee Hand Tool. I have the RCBS Rockchucker and it is a strong and dependable unit. It'll handle virtually ANY common round. The thing is, for a 308 you shoul...

Re: You gotta love Illinois

As an ex prosecutor, I can say that I would have been afraid to present this case to a judge in my jurisdiction. The courts are said to be sort of busy--drugs and violence and that kind of stuff, you know. Maybe the theory is that if you can't stop criminals with their drugs and violence, put the fe...

Re: You gotta love Illinois

My friends father got a ticket from Illinois DNR for not having his crossbow either unstrung, or in a case. Here is the messy part, it was in a case unzipped, the two zippers were about 6" apart, and the agent said that is not what the definition of closed case means. $250. dollar fine, second offe...

Re: How Dare You!

I'm just an outsider looking in on the American election, but I have some questions. Who runs Pfizer? Is it coincidental that the vaccine announcement is one week after the votes have been cast? What would have changed if there had been an earlier announcement? Covid 19 is a big issue even to those ...

Re: Me, Micro Axe 340 and DrStirrup

Good review, Andre. Excalibur and Gaston both make good products. His 3 arrow quiver is terrific. The 5 arrow not so much. You won't go wrong with either of them. If you bought a crossbow primarily for hunting, and if you are still worried about the noise of firing, there is one more product that yo...

Re: Hoping for the BEST

No permanent damage I hope. The last time I did something like this, I was kind of glad things hurt pretty bad. That helped redirect my thinking a bit and take some of the edge off my embarassment for letting it happen in the first place. No matter what, you've got to look for the silver lining........

Canadian Journalist, Rex Murphy, Nails It

"Elections, once upon a time, were about settling things, about a full contest over opposing views submitted to the citizenry for a verdict, and that verdict, once delivered, was accepted by all. Tuesday night came and went without a verdict, offered neither satisfaction nor clarity to either side a...

Re: OT: Yellowstone tourists react as wolves gang up on grizzly bear

After realizing how I had diverted your thread, Nog, I started thinking about your video. Were the wolves merely asserting territorial dominance? Or, was there a kill nearby that they were protecting? Or, maybe a den? My guess is that they had a kill nearby. Something seemed to be interesting that b...

Re: For those who pray

May you have a quick and complete recovery, Mike. You are the second person who regularly posts here who has been afflicted with that disease. I, for one, took comfort from the experience described by the other poster. Hearing the he was well, that his daughter, grand daughter, and eventually his wi...

Re: OT: Yellowstone tourists react as wolves gang up on grizzly bear

I love it! My greatest regret is that I can't post that video on a site that is now closed. The host of that site (Jayco Creek) had a hate on for wolves. Every chance that he had of raging about how wolves were killing off huge numbers of elk, deer etc, he go on and on about it. He'd complain bitter...

I got the Innerlok devastation crossbow which is the same . I am not impressed with them .
Accuracy? Different POI than field points? Blade opening problems? Not trying to challenge you, just curious . I bought some but haven't tried them yet.

Re: Blood trailing in the rain

Another thing to consider is whether you are hunting during an electrical storm. If you are, remember that if you are sitting in a tree stand, you are sitting on metal. If it's a ladder stand, that metal reaches right to the ground. In either case, that's a heck of a lot like sitting right on top of...

Re: Charger Crank

This talk about flying crank handles and decocking has me thinking about the good old days. I used to wad up the sleeve on my jacket, grab the string, and pull the trigger. There was a bit of a jolt, but it got the job done quickly, and safely, too. Then came the 405, and the micro short limbs. Now ...
