Considering the initial investment I put forth this year (x-bow, accessories, clothes, etc), I figure this year's deer cost me about $1200. I guess as the years go by the cost drops. I figure it's kinda like ice fishing. It's an expensive hobby once a 4-wheeler or snow machine is purchased. ;) I gue...

Ontario record?

I've been doing some searching online and have yet to find out what the Ontario record is for the largest buck (typical) ever taken. I found the poached buck from last year but nothing else. Anyone know? Man, if this guy on my lawn could have the record, it's gonna be a long 10 months until opening ...

There's just no way I could do that. If a person really needed the food, a smaller deer could be taken but how would you justify shooting this beast? You'd have to tell people that you got a 19 point buck (I'd definitely be getting the head mounted!) and there's no way that a killing of a buck this ...

The Canon 300D. It's a 6.3MP camera. For these images I just used the stock 18-55mm lens. File size was "large" to enable the highest resolution.

Thanks everyone. I'm not too worried about the pics. Low-rez pics online aren't any of use to a magazine (I work for a magazine and deal with this quite often).

I'll send them away to a few mags though.

Even though he was only 15' feet away, I was looking at him with binos very closely. It looks to me like the antler has fallen off naturally as it's not broken at all around the base. The frozen blood was there yesterday too (it's been about 0°F the past few nights).

One-antlered buck

This guy was a little too spooked to go near the shed bucket that I made up. Hopefully he'll come back.

Maybe I'll use this pic in the ad! I didn't download some from yesterday until this morning.

Re: Core area

Now that I know the area a bit better (only lived here since June), next summer I plan on watching them in the area where I got my buck this fall. I saw this big guy there a couple of times but he was so jumpy that I never got even close to him. I guess they don't get this big by being careless. Wai...

I've rigged some pieces of wood up to try and get the rack. Hopefully I'll get at least one of them. It figures that tomorrow I'm kinda busy but hopefully I'll be able to make some minor alterations to my setup if necessary. I was talking on the phone to a friend when this beast was 2' from my livin...

Ok, he's back and now he's 2 feet from my window. Some of the snow is gone from his head now too. He's only a 19 pointer. You can see in the one pic how close he really is to my house. http://members.aol.com/tdcarls/20point-6.jpg http://members.aol.com/tdcarls/20point-7.jpg http://members.aol.com/td...

Yep, he's the guy I thought was a 14 pointer. I just about crapped my pants when he was within 15' feet of my window and I could see the other 6 little bumps coming out near the base of the antlers. I opened up my 2nd floor window and was starring right down at him. He couldn't hear or smell me but ...

A couple more then that's it. ;) I've put some corn about 2' from my window. When he comes back I should be able to get some really good shots. :) There were some does about 40 yards away. They weren't coming _near_ this guy! http://members.aol.com/tdcarls/20point-4.jpg http://members.aol.com/tdcarl...
