Re: hypothetical trigger failure question
The two most dangerous things ever said to a man: "How do you feel about my mother?" and "Don't worry, it isn't loaded."

hypothetical trigger failure question
Hi everyone, I'm just curious, have any of you ever had a trigger on a crossbow release when it shouldn't? The triggers seem so well designed and made that I haven't had anything but the highest faith, but I know even the best machines will eventually give out. My first rifle when I was a kid was a ...

Re: Ethical Gray Areas
I agree there is many grey areas… Thanks for this list. I hunt very differently and make different choices based on the fact that I'm in it for invasive species control and to put food in the freezer than if I were approaching it like a sport. To me, the most efficient, least traumatic and most hum...

Ethical Gray Areas
In this covid madness we all need a little something to take our minds off, so here's a topic for discussion: I'm a writer, and part of my currency is exploring ethical gray areas. They tell us so much about a person's unique perspective and moral code, and also the breaking point at which a person ...

Re: 100% true story, I swear…
I should have done just that. I was trying to hunt for pigs, who didn't show up, and I normally just take down does, but when the fates provide opportunity, you should take it. Re: Air brakes
I actually like the Air Brakes, but only because they lower the vibration which makes it more comfortable for me to shoot. I don't think the slightly dampened sound makes a difference where jumping the string are concerned. I hunt from a rest in a blind, mostly, so I don't worry about the weight, wh...

100% true story, I swear…
I was sitting in my blind yesterday, and this huge buck came sauntering out of the bushes, kind of slow and plodding. He walked right up to the blind, turned around, paced off 20 yards then turned broadside. He took out a Sharpie and drew an X right over his vitals, then looked up at me with a mourn...

Crosswind Question
Another question for the accuracy nuts/competitive target shooters, or anyone, really, with a crossbow and a computer: How much do you adjust your shot at, say, 40 yards with a gentle but steady cross breeze? My target range is situated where there's often a cross breeze, and I don't notice it much ...

Re: Why Excalibur
I had a complete dryfire on my Matrix 330 early on when I was just getting used to crossbows. Limbs were fine, and I installed ADF after that. My Micro 335 had a limb that was starting to fold over. I cocked it, heard it crack, and then it very slowly started to break apart. No dramatic explosion th...

Re: Creepy ghost happenings out in the woods
When I was a teenager I had a friend who was plagued by a poltergeist. When she was around, stuff would fly off shelves, doors would open and close and stuff like that. I watched books on a bookshelf which were leaning in one direction flip one by one to the other side, then back again. One time, th...

Re: A question for the accuracy nuts
Here's a little tidbit that may be helpful. Years ago when I shot competitive 3D, I used a fine tipped metal marker to name each arrow. For example, I was a huge UFC fan so I named each arrow after a fighter. The reason being that it was easier to remember a name than a number or letter. If 'Randy ...

Re: A question for the accuracy nuts
I was a victim of target panic when shooting vertical bows and saw exactly what you describe. Seems that it looked very easy to hit bulls at 20 yds so I was sloppy on my execution and follow through. When I got out to 40 yds my groups tightened up because I was trying to be smooth and watch the arr...
