Re: Tick spray

IMO permethrin is never overkill. It works on ticks and it works for 6 weeks or so even washing the clothes. How is that overkill? I do mix my own so it is dirt cheap also. Amen, brother! When it comes to ticks and chiggers, there is no such thing as overkill! I mix my own Permethrin too. Just buy ...

Re: Tick spray

Thanks for sharing. Does it have a smell for hunting or strictly for fun activities. I have been using the armbands this summer when permethrin is overkill . They work well on mosquitoes but smell of strong citronella. IMO permethrin is never overkill. It works on ticks and it works for 6 weeks or ...

Re: Pic From My Plot Camera

Wow, that’s a heckuva fine specimen for a southern bear! He must have access to some human-derived supplemental food source.

The increased black bear population here in the southeastern US is really starting to negatively impact fawn survival rates in places.

1922 days till retirement But who’s counting, right? ;) I’ve been [mostly] retired about that many days. Funny, I never thought this would happen to me, but after five years of early retirement, I’m actually getting bored! At least in the summertime. I’ll never get bored during deer season though!

cessation may soon follow.
Alberta is at 86% in favor, Saskatchewan just over 75%, Manitoba at 66%
Make ya a deal: how about the US swaps you those three provinces for California and New York!
Heck, act now and we’ll even throw Chicago in for free! :)

Re: 2 blade broadheads

I use an oversized fixed blade, single bevel broadhead called the Centaur Battleaxe. (See photo in my avatar.). I use Blazer vanes fletched at max LW helical, which matches the LEft-bevel of the broadhead. As improbable as it seems, the thing spins like a football and POI is same as my field points ...

Wow, that’s really crappy, considering Excalibur is a Canadian company—or at least was, until it was bought by Bowtech. I guess there’s your answer!

Re: Fun with the 'hot' BD400 yesterday. ...until my screws loosened up

I had that exact problem years ago with my 2000-vintage Exocet. You would think that after all these years Excalibur would have gotten that problem solved! A big part of the problem—as I see it—is that the screw they use is way under-sized for the task. I think it’s only a #10 or maybe even a #8. It...

Re: Nuisance Deer I’ll Be doing my part this Fall

I had a problem this spring with deer eating my tulips at night. It looked like they actually deep-throated the entire flower and stem, and nipped it right off at the ground! I sprinkled the survivors with cayenne pepper, and they were never touched again! Another thing that works is buy a bar of th...

Any Indigenous group that wishes to participate in the purchase bid is welcome, he said, and would not be required to invest any money of their own. “What we’re proposing is zero risk for First Nations,” Wapass said. “We’re not asking them to invest anything other than their time to look at what’s ...
