Re: Excalibur Summer Promotion Email -Canadian's Read Fine Print

Wow, that’s really crappy, considering Excalibur is a Canadian company—or at least was, until it was bought by Bowtech. I guess there’s your answer!

Sidearms add a lot of weight. Just wear a pair a trail runners, and bring along a fat friend! :)

Re: Fun with the 'hot' BD400 yesterday. ...until my screws loosened up

I had that exact problem years ago with my 2000-vintage Exocet. You would think that after all these years Excalibur would have gotten that problem solved! A big part of the problem—as I see it—is that the screw they use is way under-sized for the task. I think it’s only a #10 or maybe even a #8. It...

Re: Nuisance Deer I’ll Be doing my part this Fall

I had a problem this spring with deer eating my tulips at night. It looked like they actually deep-throated the entire flower and stem, and nipped it right off at the ground! I sprinkled the survivors with cayenne pepper, and they were never touched again! Another thing that works is buy a bar of th...

Re: BC Pipeline Ruling In

Any Indigenous group that wishes to participate in the purchase bid is welcome, he said, and would not be required to invest any money of their own. “What we’re proposing is zero risk for First Nations,” Wapass said. “We’re not asking them to invest anything other than their time to look at what’s ...

Re: Nuisance Deer I’ll Be doing my part this Fall

If you live in the “city”, but can walk one way for ten miles without hitting another road, you must be in Canada. Ain’t no cities like that in the lower 48! A fence around the garden works. If you hang burlap on it or make it opaque some other way, it only needs to be five foot high. Deer won’t jum...

Sure hope y’all can turn things around up there. The election results in Australia are promising!
England of course is lost, but maybe its former colonies can wriggle out of its toxic social/political grasp.

Re: Opportunity Knocks Canada!

Wow, it’s flipped in just the last couple months! When’s the Election? Probably sounds like dumb question, but here in the USA we get absolutely no news about Canada at all. In fact, I recall when Jay Leno did his “man on the street” routine and asked college students what two countries bordered the...

Re: FIBERBOARD SHEATHING TARGETS

In our archery club we made the backstop as you describe, but laid up strips of carpet and compressed those. Much better I think than the stuff you’re talking about.

But as others have mentioned, disposal is a PITA once it’s reached the end of its useful life.

Re: Custom Excal's

Here’s a couple mods I made to my Exocet 175. I made a stock out of a dead walnut tree I cut down off my cousin’s farm. It’s not nearly as nice as some folks on this forum have made, but I like it. The plastic stock that came with it was fine; I was unemployed at the time, and just bored so I though...

Re: Targets

Honestly, the best, cheap target with super-easy arrow removal is a burlap sack packed with old rags. I got a burlap sack for $1-$2 from a coffee shop (they get their coffee beans in them). Here in North Carolina there’s no shortage of cloth scraps from textile plants, but you can just use the old c...

Hahaha! You guys have no self-control!

Actually, I’m thinking of getting one those myself, though my wallet might settle for a BD400.

I’d be curious to know how the stock trigger is on this bow.

Re: VENISON REFRESHER ALERT

Butchering deer is so easy once you know how. I can’t imagine paying someone $70 to do it for me. Heck, it’s more trouble carting the carcass to a butcher than it is doing it yourself! I’d rather butcher a deer than a squirrel. Squirrels hang onto their hide worse than any other animal I know! Hella...
