Re: Super heavy arrow with expandable heads?

You’re certainly on the right track, IMO, to use the heavier insert/broadhead. However it’s not realistic to expect any arrow/broadhead combo to achieve a pass through on a leg bone! I dont think the most powerful Excalibur shooting a single-bevel fixed blade could achieve a pass through on a leg bo...

Canada is the “canary in the coal mine” for those of us living in the States.

I thought the ATA was closed to the general public? Only archery industry insider allowed?

Re: measurements of short and compact xbows

It’s not an Excalibur, but the Killer Insinct Swat 408 is only 29” long.

I have no idea if it’s a quality bow or not, but is does sport a novel design where it buries the string into the stock, giving it a longer effective draw length.

Re: 2019 Excaliburs

Hmmm, with that takedown Assassin Excalibur May entice me to retire my Exocet this year!

My biggest complaint about my crossbow is that it’s an ungainly beast to lug around.

That advertised 420fps should yield an honest 400 with hunting weight arrows. That’d be a big upgrade for me!

Wow! Other than a moose head, there’s really no way to improve on that!

New for 2019

Anyone hearing any scuttlebutt on what's new for Excalibur for 2019?

The ATA Show is only 5 weeks away! That's one industry Trade Show I'd actually like to attend...

Re: Rangefinder or No Rangefinder

Walmart often has them on sale at the end of hunting season. I picked up a Simmons last year marked down to $25! Often see them marked down to $50. It's by no means the quality glass that a Leica is, but it gets the job done for archery. I hunted my first crossbow-hunting year without one. Like anot...

Re: Retractable Cocking Rope

My brother has them on his Wicked Ridge crossbow (made by TenPoint). They're convenient, but the problem with them is the retracting spring doesn't pull them back tight enough. Consequently, the plastic handles rattle against the stock when you walk with it = noisy.

Do bear cracklings taste as good as pork cracklings? I’ve rendered pork lard a couple times, and those hot pork cracklings are to die for! :)

Re: Wasp expandable broadheads

If I were to move back to expandables, I think I’d try the 150-grain Shwacker.
I like the way they’ve designed the blades opening on those.

Expandables can be problematic in quartering-away shots, or if they glance off a rib wrong. The Shwacker looks like it might overcome those issues.

They're okay. I liked the Hammerhead expandables better, back when I used expandables.

Re: "Splash" "Get The Net"!!! Nov. 3 Buck Story

Funny, I'm hunting SW Ohio right now too. I nailed a four-pointer with my Exocet yesterday; he ran 75 yards, tumbled down an embankment, and splashed into the creek! How's the Rut been in your neck of the woods? It's been subdued here this year; almost like the bucks just aren't that into the does t...
