Re: Some fun virus times

I'm a lucky man in that department. I was brought up hunting and fishing in Arkansas and have brought both of my kids up the same way. My daughter is serious when she heads outdoors. My son-in-law quickly learned that he'd always be bringing home the smaller harvest. When they were dating, she calle...

Re: Another ammo crisis

I haven't noticed a complete shortage here, only shotgun shells. I guess shotguns are the toilet paper of the gun world. They wiped out all of the cheap bird shot so no shooting skeet around here until things restock. There's plenty of turkey ammo though. I guess it was too pricey to hoard. Fo...

Re: O/T: Besides hunting and fishing, what types of hobbies??

During the off season I still spend a lot of time outdoors. I picked up a jetski about four years ago and my wife and I have managed to put it in every decent body of water within six hours. We've had it on Kerr Lake, Smith Mountain Lake, Jordan Lake, Lake Anna and the Chesapeake Bay just to name a ...

Re: Excalibur pro acp trigger problem

Ok start off saying I love this trigger. But for some reason over time the trigger has gotten very sluggish. As in I almost have to push the lever back to original position because it does not spring back into place. X2 I had the same issue after about 100 shots on my Micro 400 TD. My issue ended u...

Re: OT: Boredom Relief

Truth be told, my isolation didn't start until this past weekend so I'm only on day 3. But, I'm in for the long haul. I can't depart home unless my job calls me in (everyone is sick) or we get the all clear. It could be weeks or months. I'm not bored yet, but I am going to have to start pacing mysel...

Re: Fletching Bolts Questions

My only prep is to clean the shaft with acetone and wipe the contact potion of the vane with acetone as well. Don't soak it, just wipe it for a few seconds. This removes any oils and softens it for adhesion. The last few years I've used assorted cyanoacrylate glues. Regardless of the brand of glue, ...

Re: Mechanical head premature opening test (Graphic heavy)

My pack of Swat Vectors came in the mail today and I remembered a few old heads I had stashed in a box that would make an excellent group for another day of testing. Today's lineup includes a cheap eBay Chinese made 2-blade Rage clone from about 8 years ago, an actual 2-blade Rage chisel-tip, one of...

Re: Mechanical head premature opening test (Graphic heavy)

Great test, any chance you could try 150 grain swackers or the new 150 excalibur is pimping? I'd love to if I had any. If someone wants to mail me a head, I'd be glad to send it downrange and report the results. Seriously, PM me for a mailing address. Does your 400 have all the supp...

Mechanical head premature opening test (Graphic heavy)

I couldn't help but wonder how mechanical broadheads would handle the ferocious launch from the Micro Suppressor 400 TD. So, I devised a testing scenario to capture if the broadhead was open before reaching the target. Starting with a Blob target and some scrap lumber... https://wjtulq.bn.files.1drv...

Re: Multiple crossbows

I was OK when I got my Micro 335 because I let my daughter start using my ExoMax and she's killed a few deer with it. Then WV allowed crossbows for all, but no Micro because arrows had to be 18" (16" starting in the 2020 season). So I picked up the Matrix 350LE. I alternated with the Matrix and Micr...

Re: So much for not buying a 400 Suppressor TD. I tried!

Congrats on the mini-Beast. The first thing I had to do is invest in better backstops. My bag and Block weren't stout enough to contain it. This little thing hits HARD at 20 yards with a 400+ grain arrow. The second thing I had to do is learn to serve my own strings. Everything comes at a price.

Re: Anyone want to share their cam pic?

I checked the cameras yesterday and have a fresh pic of a new buck still with antlers. Hopefully he sticks around. https://wjs88w.bn.files.1drv.com/y4mBMioAARzzqRQQTlaG5iBUInaasHwHEKHu0IMe6vSB54rN3WYfotVeTB_EjVkgJWFhBbjC9RAVfYxvFtHkssSm5oDMhlhzaKgZ76pkNYKKBkVWGS946AnkF_VDjOS31D1AQoFe_dOcwPa3oU7EqaQK...

Re: Just thinking so far!

While I plan to have more than a couple decades left of hunting, we all know we don't always have control of the circumstances and they tend to change. My hunting area sounds similar in that I'd be hard pressed to ever see a 140" deer, much less harvest one. I've taken 88 deer off the property in 16...
