Do not feel bad we all made the same mistake getting into cross bows from vertical and had a few damaged bolts, I did not shoot for a few months and got a quick reminder real fast a couple of weeks ago.

Sounds like you are looking for a " Carved Tip Model" I do not see many come up on the trading post but wish you luck , you looking for a sort of collectors piece most people love the performance of the newer lineup of bows. I have a 1999 Exocet carved tip I bought as a collector piece and a back up...

Sounds like he hit a bit forward and cought that high thick ridge that divides the middle of the shoulder blade would be my guess .
