Re: A question for the accuracy nuts

You certainly do not have to do all of the above post for good "hunting accuracy"....but my opinion is "why not?" Better accuracy won't hurt your shot on a deer in any way. I do many of the above but not all. #1 and #2 go to the "aim small miss small" mentality. I do not like the chevron type reticl...

Re: A question for the accuracy nuts

Here's a little tidbit that may be helpful. Years ago when I shot competitive 3D, I used a fine tipped metal marker to name each arrow. For example, I was a huge UFC fan so I named each arrow after a fighter. The reason being that it was easier to remember a name than a number or letter. If 'Randy ...

Re: fixed or mechanical

Fixed. Slick trick viper trick or QAD exodus. And you can practise with them so you know your exact POI for all your hunting arrows.. Do you find the blades get dull if you practice with them? I retire my slick tricks I've shot deer with and use those for practise/sight in and then put the exact sa...

Re: mechanical broad heads

I actually shot a moose quartering away took out lung and part of the heart. From the ground and the moose ran 65 yards down a logging road before first visible blood !! I have shot them with nap thunderheads and rages and every horizontal shot has had a long lead time before first blood. Then easy...

Re: piebald deer

I saw one this year while driving to one hunting spot. But funnt this came up.......... I work with a group that bow hunts and donates venison, so we work with the wildlife biologist quite a bit. Landowners contact him to get in a program that allows them to provide tags for people like me so we get...

Re: mechanical broad heads

The entry hole with a mechanical will always be smaller. But your exit should be full size. A blood trail can be very different depending on the situation. Shots from elevation with the exit hole lower usually gives a better blood trail. Shots from the ground (parallel) has the exit and entry holes...

Re: Character bows

That's pretty much all I own. I buy bows to use them in the woods, swamps,or plains to kill things. I certainly don't purposefully abuse them, but things happen that like you say....just give them character and IMO don ot cheapen them in any way.
