Re: Carbon Express Maxima Hunter

Enormous..I bought some recently and they came with both flat and moon nocks. When I put the flats in they were of a slightly larger diameter than the moons. Are your flat nocks exactly the same as the arrow shafts? They were supposed to send me some new flats but I have not seen anything in the mai...

Re: Rage slipcam rear deploying crossbow 125. gr

If I were to shoot them again that is the way I would go. But the Swhacker videos have convinced me.

Re: Rage slipcam rear deploying crossbow 125. gr

Enormous ...My experience has all been with the 100 grain 2 blade. And I was very anal about checking the blade seating on the O ring. It's the first thing I checked once I got situated in my stand. But to be fair you are not using the head as designed since you add the dental elastic. But I also th...

Re: Rage slipcam rear deploying crossbow 125. gr

I'm with Big58cal....I am also trying the Swhackers this year. Take a look at some of the Swhacker BH testing videos on Youtube. Lots of head to head comparisons to the Rage. 3 years ago I hit a nice buck right behind the shoulder at about 7 yards. Got maybe 4" penetration and never got the deer. La...

Re: same poi with fieldpoints and broadheads

The math will be complicated and depend heavily or the shape of the BH (coefficient of friction)....but you should be able to measure the difference with a chrony setup by the target. Accuracy is good enough on these bows to "risk" putting your chronograph down there.

Re: same poi with fieldpoints and broadheads

A word about Rages............Shot a nice buck last year with one, 15yards complete pass thru, but through the liver and not the lungs. Didn't fully understand that until this weekend. Was shooting Swhackers at 50 yds, and dinging the bull. I had electrical tape on it like it says to so the blades d...

Re: Flats vs Moons POI/Partial Dryfire Question

Yeah, thinking about it some....maybe the string is sitting lower, then pushes up into the middle with the moon nock, and then drops a bit as the arrow leaves the bow and gives it a little upward kick? Interesting, but like you noted, it is shooting really well. I think I will take some calipers hom...

Re: Ground blinds or tree stands???

I have been hunting with a crossbow since 1996 and have hunted exclusively from the ground in natural blinds using "Leafy Wear" camo (sort of a ghille suit). My son does as well. We have killed many deer and all around 20-25 yards.....well maybe I shot one at 32 or something early on. PROS: It's eas...

Re: ghost blinds .com

I think these look really good - and would like to get the gun runner one eventually. I think the predator is too tall and you would have to shoot through the cutouts, so then I would be worried about the limbs hitting the sides. The only negative I saw on them was that they can move around a bit in...

Flats vs Moons POI/Partial Dryfire Question

I learned something this weekend. Last week I was shooting some Carbon Express Maxima Hunter arrows with flat nocks. These nocks were previously moon nocks and I shaved them down. The arrows came with flat nocks, but they were of a slightly larger diameter than the arrow shafts for some reason. So I...

Re: AFTER THE SHOT

All good advice on here. I wait about 10 min (mostly just to calm down) after what I think is a good double lung hit. Since I sit on the ground I have a higher probability of hitting both on a broadside shot - which I wait for. After 10 I start packing up my stuff, then I look for the arrow - since ...

Re: Newby Questions

You will have no trouble being WAY accurate enough to kill a deer at 40 or 50 yards...but the deer's reaction time to the shot noise is still the same, and for the most part the shot noise is a bit higher with a crossbow than a vert bow. Something to consider this when thinking about those long shot...

Swhackers get good reviews as well. And I like the G5 Montec CS.
