Re: Do REDS make a diff under 340fps?

To me it's "the simpler the better". Whatever vibration my bow makes doesn't effect my shots and the noise doesn't seem to cost me any deer. The only gadget that ever hangs from my bows is a quiver and I remove that when I'm in a stand.

Re: VENISON REFRESHER ALERT

I find their location and subsequently their diet has a far greater influence on their taste than sex does. I'll take a burger made from a corn feed old buck before I opt for a fat plump northern Doe who's been enjoying hemlock her whole life. I only hunt in an area where agriculture is the primary...

Re: VENISON REFRESHER ALERT

Thank you Carnivorous for posting this. I too recently turned 70 and have eaten wild game all of my life (though I also enjoy moderate consumption of beer, good scotch and wine). My wife is a city girl who had a preconceived opinion about deer meat, though she had never tasted it. The first deer I b...

Re: Turkeys!

I've killed about 35 wild turkeys in my life, one with a recurve vertical bow, and the rest with shotguns. Every year since I started crossbow hunting I think about using a crossbow, then opening morning comes and I grab a shotgun. Most of the shots I've made with my shotgun, I could make with my cr...

Re: Trophy Rock time

Not only do you shoot the best crossbow. You use the best, in my opinion, chain saw. I love my farm boss- it eats trees like no other. I've had the same Stihl Farm Boss since round 2000 and I can't wear it out! I use the less anti-kickback chains and it cuts through Locust and Hedge like it was cot...

Re: OT: OK WINTER...

I'm looking forward to spring, but it's going to be muddy. We've been getting snow, sleet and rain since November, so when we finally get a good thaw, it's going to be a mess. Don't know what part ya live in but, its that way here in my part also, in the Ozarks. Dave :) I live in the St...

Re: OT: OK WINTER...

Just something wrong with going to play hockey with shorts and a tee shirt on. I went to the Maple Leafs vs Blues game the other night here in St. Louis, and chatted with some people who came from Toronto to see the game (sorry about the result, Leafs fans, but your team is a good one). They s...

Re: OT: GradDaddy's Gun

My 12 gauge Ithica Mod 37 I bought it when I was 16 yrs old and still have it at 55 . I refinished the stock as all the finish was flaking off but is ia as solid a gun as the day it was bought new after all these years of service. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/1-into-the-dawn-gerald-strine.ht...

Re: OT: GradDaddy's Gun

I haven't fired most of the guns in my locker for years, so buying another gun seems pointless, but seeing this gun makes me want to get one just like it. I don't have a single lever action in my collection, so maybe that could be my excuse.

What good news! I'd hate to miss an entire hunting season. I hope you get a deer or two, but even if you don't, getting out there is what really counts. Good luck!

Re: Update on Toxic Broadheads

There may be a "very best broadhead" but I don't know what feature it could have that would distinguish it from the rest. If they are well made, sharp and shoot accurately, they will probably yield about the same results as other similar broadheads. I say this as anything but an expert. I began cros...
