Congrats on the great buck. Always good to see a happy hunter or his friends and family enjoying the success whether it's a buck or doe.

Re: Aging Deer Meat/ advice and tips

Always field dress and butcher as quickly as possible. That's how we have done it for many years. Not saying that aging is bad, maybe it works for you; however, we have best results with fast as possible from field to freezer. Cut off all fat prior to cooking - the fat is where the gamey taste resid...

Re: Matrix 355 draw weight too much for NY

The regs in NY are ridiculous - set by uninformed legislators. It should be based on arrow speed not draw weight - a reverse limb compound cross bow with a longer string draw and a draw weight well below 200 lbs will launch an arrow much faster than your 355. I bought an additional string, so I think that I will break in both strings, so I will be set if ...

Re: Various questions for Crossbow hunting

Thanks so much for the advice. Just got the bow, scope, arrows, rope cocker and cranking device. I need to put everything together and look at the video. Hopefully, I can get the hang of decocking with the rope. Probably will not be able to get to play with it right away as I have a list of things to ...

Various questions for Crossbow hunting

Hi I'm new to the board and just purchased a Matrix 330 to use for deer hunting. As I have never used a crossbow before, I have a few questions in order benefit from the experienced here on the board. What is the normal sequence of cocking the bow prior to going in the woods. Would you cock it at yo...
