Re: Deer Pockets
Here is a picture of the Sherpa cart kit installed on my Summit Viper. https://i.imgur.com/tMfpozZ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Q0eGtAg.jpg The kit attaches to the Viper with four straps. Only takes a few minutes and the stand is ready for the tree. They came with the kit and do not loosen up in use. The...

Re: Deer Pockets
Hey Mr Bill would one of them jet sleds like the duck hunters use help you with your needs in the wet areas. Even if you hide it in the brush somewhere? I have one and use it with my cart to get my equipment in and out. I use a Sherpa Hunting cart kit with my Summit Viper treestand to turn it into ...

Deer Pockets
I bumped into a very friendly local archery hunter in the refuge. He has been hunting there long enough to know the deer patterns quite well. He told me the deer are spread out in the refuge in small pockets. The area is a mixture of swamps/wetlands and strips of wood lots. Many crop fields border m...

Exomax Arrow Weight
Finally got around to weighing my Firebolt arrows for the Exomax. Firebolt arrow at 250 grains, Nufletch Ignitor Lighted Nocks 41 gr., 110 grain brass inserts and 100 grain broadheads. Adds up to 501 grains. Did a measurement with my reloading scale and came up with 491. So, I am confident I am righ...

Re: Swamp Bucks
Missed a doe this morning. My fault 100%. At least I am seeing deer. I hope I am correctly figuring out their pattern. Looks like they are in the corn and soybean fields at night and use the wood lot strips to travel to and from their bedding areas. They like to bed in areas bordered by water on at ...

Re: Swamp Bucks
I have a Sherpa cart kit for my Summit Viper and a sled so I can get them out ok. Fortunately the area has several raised roads for the farmers in the refuge. Once you get off the roads it is wet and thick.

Re: Removing Inserts
I will get an 8-32 screw the proper length, cut it off and screw it into the soldering iron for removing the broadhead inserts.

Swamp Bucks
I hunt the swamps now here in Northern Alabama. While the past two seasons is not a long hunt history I have been surprised by their sudden appearance when they do show up. The area goes from no fresh sign at all in the woods to being covered in rubs and scrapes almost overnight. Most of it is done ...

Re: Great-nowhere to hunt now
Hunting private or public land bordering someone else's property can be tricky. You are at the mercy of the owner's perceptions of you and their life changes. A buddy of mine lost his hunting ground after helping out an elderly rancher with his chores for quite a while. He pitched in to bail hay, fe...
