Re: Greetings from Spain

ON a hog, the quartering away shot is best followed by the perfect broadside. Straight up the leg, lower 1/3rd of the body will do nicely. I've found that taking out the vessels just above the heart plus bot lungs of course puts things down very fast. About your shot groups......do the arrows group ...

Re: I want to come out of the closet

Thank you very much to all. You are great guys!! ...The way I see it, your thinking is backwards... I hadn't looked at it from that perspective, interesting... A heavy arrow is interesting to me because, according to the theory of the experts, the extremities suffer less. Thanks for the link and ad...

Re: I want to come out of the closet

Doesn't matter. Either bow will do .... with the proper arrow/broadhead . The arrow needs to be very stiff, have a very high FOC, and be tipped with a broadhead that will remain in perfect condition no matter what it hits. It gets tough to make a high weight "standard" arrow for a Micro, b...

Re: Mechanical broadhead test

Your goal as an archery hunter is a complete pass through. For hogs my feeling is you need a heavy arrow...like 600gr and a strong fixed head that won't bend when it hits something substantial. Ranch Fairy shoots a ton of hogs. Check out his youtube channel. 400gr arrow on a hog is just not heavy en...

Re: Gold Tip Bolts

I think those are GT Nitro Pros in my avatar pic. 125 gr Rancat on a 500gr total weight arrow went completely through a bison. I found them to be not as accurate as Black Eagles, but their new Supe Fly offering might be worth a look. I like a heavy arrow and it's tough to get with a Micro without do...

Re: Gold Tip Bolts

Swifts are OK. I like the Nitro Pro line but they are heavy...13.9GPI. I see they have a SUPER FLY line now that boasts 0.001" straightnesss and is 8.5GPI

Re: I Didn't Miss By Much.....

Yeah this was right out of the Ranch Fairy's book.....who cares about the blood trail when they don't run far?

I'll give them another shot, but like you I'm leaning a bit more towards the 3 blades...

I Didn't Miss By Much.....

Took a few hours off Friday afternoon and headed to the woods. Cool, overcast with a little, but not too much wind. And late October. I sat in a stand I hadn't been in for over a month but didn't see anything. Maybe 1 squirrel. We all know those days right? Everything seems good, but nothing moving ...

Re: Thinking about a Charger EXT cocking crank?

The aniti-reverse being "not silent" is a deal breaker for me. One of the main points was to be able to reload in the field...and quite possibly with deer still in range or just out of range but within sight. That little click click click also travels a long way in a quiet woods. No bueno....

Re: Head Up or Head Down...and Jumping the String

The part of the video that Chris W posted that captured me was the slow motion movement of the deer when it ducked the shot. It was a revelation to me to see the head come up as the back dropped down. Maybe there is MORE than the force of gravity involved in ducking. The muscle groups involved may ...
