Hawke xb-30 versus Excal Twilight Deluxe scope
Up until this point I have been a loyal Hawke fan. The last Excal scope I owned was a lumizone that I had on a 2007 Equinox. Recently I purchased an Excal Vortex from Danny Miller and put a Twilight Deluxe scope on top of it. I already owned an Equinox with a Hawke Xb-30 scope. I honestly never thou...

Re: ez fletch
I use a an Arizona Ez fletch with 4 degree right offset for aluminum arrows. I have had the best luck with firebolts or Easton powerbolts, and 3 inch fusion vanes.

Re: Hawk XB-30?
I have an XB-30 on my Equinox. I took the mount off of the Xb-30 that it came with and bought some Hawke 30 mm medium height match grade rings directly from Hawke. They are much lighter and sit lower.

Re: EPA Considering Ban on Traditional Ammunition
At this point I don't reload, and my ammo is over 3 dollars per shot. I know the 300 wsm ammo is more expensive than others, but I could get much cheaper ammo to hunt with if lead was allowed.

Re: EPA Considering Ban on Traditional Ammunition
I live and hunt in California where the use of lead ammo is banned. They claim they are trying to protect the California Condors. The other scavenger birds seem to have no trouble reproducing or surviving??? I was at a big game exotic hunting ranch recently and shot a yak with a 300 wsm at 184 yards...

Re: Riser screws
Boo, I got the allen wrench that came with the Equinox and found that I could get the screws tighter than they were. I had been tightening the screws with one of those sets were the allen wrenches fold in. I don't think they were getting as tight as I had thought. I will use the locktite as a last r...

Riser screws
I shoot my Equinox quite a bit. I have noticed that sometimes the 2 screws that hold the riser to the barrel will loosen. Has anyone here put locktite on the screws? Any negatives to doing that?

Re: Best way to quiet an Excalibur?
I think the S5, Flemish string and heavier arrows will really quiet the bow down. I have owned the Excal Equinox, Bowtech Strykeforce, Tenpoint Phantom, darton Serpent Limited 2. The only one I kept was the Excal Equinox. I have a Vortex on order from Danny Miller. Excal is second to none.

Twisselman Ranch crossbow success
8-06-11 My father and I met Andrew Twisselman at 4:45 am at the ranch in Central California. To my knowledge I am the only person that has ever hunted with them with a crossbow. Not many guides locally are very crossbow friendly so I have tried to support the ones who are. Andrew took us to a blind ...

Re: Question about excal's scope ring?
All of my crossbows which includes 2 Excals have Hawke match grade rings. They have them on their website for 30 mm tubes and 1 inch tubes. They are extremely well made.

Re: Swacker Broadheads
Swhacker broadheads are a very good choice for crossbows. I have killed 2 bison and 1 wild boar with Swhackers. The Bison incident was truly an accident. I was shooting a Tenpoint Phantom and 100 grain Swhackers. It was at an exotic game ranch. I hit a cow at 40 yards, the arrow kept going after pas...
