Practice shooting.Wash hunting clothing in no scent soap and spray down when going hunting. Use google earth over your hunting area to see the terrain.Buy the rattle bag and grunt call for...

I also re-sharpen the blades after a shot with my hand held sharpener. It beats replacing the blades.

Re: Test fired a shwacker tonight!
I went back to the 160 acres i hunt in the daylight. The first blood i saw was 5yds from the spot splattered on 2 trees.Last night i didn't see that.I had a good blood trail to follow and the deer only went 40yds and not 60.I feel the spitfire opens the deer up more than the swhacker does.

Re: Test fired a shwacker tonight!
I had a pass thru out the leg on the other side.Lots of blood. The photo is the entrance side.I heard the deer crash and die in 60yds.The head flew like a field point.

Re: treestand lifeline
I'd just spend the $45 for a tested real one by HSS.
The cost to you having a homemade one fail is too great.

Re: Screw in tree steps
Ditto the saftey rope with prussic knot and hunters saftey vest.Always connected to the tree.If you don't have that, your set-up is a disaster waiting to happen at 24' to the ground.
