Re: Any cold weather hunters?

The one minus to using layers is figuring out how much to wear n how much to carry in. I tend to over dress then sweat on my way to my stand n then freeze because of it. Trick is to regulate your body temp as your sweat evaporates. Let it dry but dont cool your body down fast nor to much. Its hard t...

Re: Is it worth gettin them cut down?

We in truth Ive always liked my reg arrows as short as possible without going under minimum suggested total arrow weight/tip. Although Ive yet to place a bolt on my xbow yet Im very certain I do not want a broadhead sticking past the stirrup at all. I love the micro for its very compact design. I ha...

Re: Any cold weather hunters?

Northern Vermont and Maine hunter here. Ice fishing too. Like others have mentioned already. Layers and layers. You dont even have to go pricey in layers. Walmart is good. In my early years i wore regular winter clothing, jeams n long sleeves, sweats. Just regular miss match colors. Then I had a set...

Is it worth gettin them cut down?

I have a new micro 335 n yet to of shot it! My bolts are enroute still. I ordered 18" zombie .300/.001 and according to the website total bolt weight comes in at smidge over 250g. Add a 100g broadhead and its over the min. Prob use a 125g though. Is it worth getting these cut down to 16.5"...

Re: Flemish vs reg string???

My apologies to two members. I mentioned I had a Boo string coming in my original post. Thats a mistake. I confused who was who. I have a 8ptbuk custom string coming.
So my apologies to 8ptbuk n to Boo.

Flemish vs reg string???

First let me say I have a Boo string on order. So I dont need convincing based on how many folks get these custom strings.
But why are they so good/better/preferred/desired over a reg factory string? Other then they look awesome. Lol

Cocking on or off stand?

So I was really early in my stand this AM and in the dark I was wondering how it must be to cock a crossbow up in a treestand. Noise could get bad with the stirrup on the metal platform id think. Motion seems equally bad. I assume most just cock it at the truck n leave it that way till back to the t...

Quivers. On or off or other?

With my compound I never liked my bow mounted quiver on while shooting. Especially hunting. Always had to hang it on a hook n hope I could reach it for a second shot. Ive lost those 2nd shots due to that. I just hated the balance a full quiver gave my bow. Never could get use to it. Is this the same...

Re: Yet another broad head "I need opinion" post

My bad. I didnt mention my xbow is a micro 335. So from what Ive read so far was that its prob to light a xbow for the FOCs. Ive never gone with Spitfires but can take a look. Thank hou all for chiming in! Im not agains fixed either. I went with Excalibur due to its simple and dependable design over...

Re: Yet another broad head "I need opinion" post

I went crazy over the design of those Toxics. Never could get them to fly true. Sold them. Lol I use Rage Hypo on my compound arrows. Anyone have crossbow experience with the Rage version for xbows? Im not familiar with the FOCs. Gonna have to look at those. I have Zombies at 18" is this helps.

Yet another broad head "I need opinion" post

So ive been shooting archery for 30+ Years and ever since mechanicals came out I was all over them. Love them. So. No bashing of one style over the other. Im interested in those who hunt with mechs out of a crossbow and what you use, your pluses n minuses. Im sure a fixed blade guy will chime in. Th...

Re: If you were going to change from stock to aftermarket ..

Checked out drstirrup and its interesting for sure. Not sold yet. But worth more research on my part. Looks bulkier then Id like for treestands. Looks perfect for ground blinds. Jmo. I personally didnt like the engineering of how luminocks have to be unseated slightly to be turned off. My personal e...

Re: If you were going to change from stock to aftermarket ..

Thanks for your helps folks. I like the thought of 16.5" bolts so Im going to just go with some Quills up front. Though I really dont care for luminocks for my own personal reasons/experience. Ive been using nockturnals with great success on my compound bow arrows. Id like to stay with that bra...
