I don't see how you can draw this conclusion. It's possible, but to say there is no doubt is a stretch for sure. The first deer could have spooked off for any number of reasons. Garytrackeral1 wrote: There was no doubt that the new arrows were the scent problem.

Sounds like you need a permanent hunting partner...one that don't have Lyme. I've been tested for it but good so far. Damn ticks. Gary

Re: Private or Public
I have over 17,000 acres of public hunting within a mile of me around a large Corps of Engineers lake, but I hunt on private. Believe it or not, the public land has more deer but is much harder to hunt. Few access areas and no use of 4-wheelers to retrieve your deer. Gary

Re: different limbs
I put the new style limbs on my old Exocet for the same reason as you. Ran a fiberglass splinter through my hand. I hate the new limbs. It makes my bow more powerful but it also seems wider and heavier. No going back to carved tip limbs so I bought another Exocet with the old style limbs. I love it!...

Using open sights depends totally on your vision. I'm losing mine...thank God for scopes! Gary

Re: deer getting hit by cars
A friend of mine shot a doe with his Exocet and it ran arcoss the highway and was hit by an old lady in a car. My friend got out of his stand and went and talked to her. He told her he shot the deer and wanted it if she didn't. The lady told him she already called her son to come and get it. ...

I'd say it's about normal around here. Doe to buck ratio must be 5 to 1 and it makes for a silent rut. Gary

Re: O/T - What do you do for a living?
I started out working in local factories and ended up in the machining dept. at York Borg Warner. Liked running machines a lot but that job ended. I then worked for several trucking companies driving semis. Made some money but those jobs ended as well. Needed to find something different so went to s...

Re: What Brought Us to Buy an Excalibur?
A friend of mine was the first around here to get a disability permit and buy a crossbow. He tried several different brands and finally settled on Excalibur. When I got my permit, he recommended Excalibur and I bought my first one in '97. Since I've never owned another brand, I missed finding out ho...

Re: 11 Acre 8 Pointer
You want to plant crops for deer? You can plant all those food plots with fancy plants but one of the easiest and most effective food plots I've seen is corn. Plant an acre or two and don't harvest it. Gary
