String height?

When properly strung, should the bow string be touching the rail?

Re: Vacuum sealing testimonial

I used to vacuum pack everything, but now I can it. Lasts longer and I don't have to worry about a power outage. I put a little bit of onion soup mix in each jar. It's sooooo good that way. I do cubes, burger, and steaks that way. The steaks I put rings of onions between them. +1 on canning. My dad...

Re: Newbie needing help with Vixen!

Live in Alabama where I'm originally from.

We had a house down off of old orangeburg rd iirc. Garden Pond Drive I think.

Good times in SC. Lots of good friends there.

Re: Newbie needing help with Vixen!

I am located in Lexington, SC. Thank you to everyone who posted a response. I appreciate the info. looking forward to shooting it. I am very excited to be an Excalibur owner. Cool. I lived in Lexington a while back. Over in an area known as Red Bank. Season's been open for a while there hasn't it? ...

Re: Scope Problems/Vibrations

Makes me wonder if airgun rated scopes are the way to go. They are braced for what's called "reverse" recoil. I would think that is similar to the sudden stop of the crossbow string's forward momentum.

Re: Deer geometry - shot angle practice

Glad to hear the discussion on those shots. I was wondering if the "heart" area shots were frowned upon. I know rifles are different but I hold in the lower right quadrant with shooting a firearm. Most of those shots were further back and somewhat higher. It was a learning experience for me.

Target Recommendations

I need a target that will handle broad heads but won't break the bank. Would like to stay in the $50-$70 range if possible.

Thanks,

Paul

Mechanical or Fixed Broadhead

Okay, who likes what and why. The more I hear about mechanical broad heads giving trouble, the more I'm inclined to use fixed broad heads. But what do you guys/gals do?

Please vote and comment.

Re: Deer geometry - shot angle practice

Cool game. I scored a 52 first time and 96 the second. Pretty amazing the difference in shot placement with a bow vs. with a rifle.

Crossbow scope reticles?

Does anyone know what the common reticle subtensions are for crossbow scopes? Most BDC rifle reticles fall in the 1.5 MOA, 4.5 MOA, 7.5 MOA and 11 MOA range at 100 yards. I know the velocity markings are using magnification to change the reticle size with respect to the target so measurements at the...

Re: unexplainably strange

I'm not photo analysis guru but I did notice that when I toggled between the two images, there is a slight alteration in the center of the image. Going from the raccoon image to the other image, the center and right side of the image seem to shift slightly. But the left side of the image does not mo...

Other scope options.

I looked through my buddies Exocet and have picked up a few Excals at Bass Pro. The BDC reticles were cool and many had the power ring marked so that the second focal plane reticle could be easily matched to the velocity the bow was shooting. But everything I picked up had sub par glass. I've seen s...

Can someone please square me away on bolts.

Okay,

I've found two Ibex bows, one aluminum barreled and the the other is a new SMF.

The information says use 350 weight arrows. I'm unclear if that is a total weight with broadhead/field point or just the shaft weight. Any clarification would help.

Thanks,

Paul

Re: Crossbow for the whole family?

Thanks so much. I've been reading and the consensus seems to be that the smaller/less powerful bows have a lot going for them. Less stress on the bow/strings, more compact, lighter, etc. Another thing I've noticed is that there are few used Vixen bows for sale but many more of the heavier bows are a...
