You don't have to loosen the screw to do that, you can just turn the bumper on its post.

You only need to twist one end of the string.

It's generally better to start a new thread rather than revive a year old thread ... but you need to buy a stringing aid to get the string where it needs to be. It needs to be kept behind (towards the scope) the line.

If you want the hooks down just untie the knot on one end of the cord, remove the hooks, flip them around, and reassemble.
