Re: First light

I agree with the majority here about evening hunts. I lost a deer to coyotes this year that I shot around sundown. It was too dark to track her in the dense woods where she ran and when I easily found her the next morning, she was ripped up by coyotes. When a deer is hit in the morning you have all...

Re: First light

It's funny that when bow hunting all roads lead to shot placement. If your aim is true and achieve a double lung hit then the deer will expire in seconds. Well before the coyotes find it.. :) I've had double lung hit deer drop in a few yards. but I have also had a double lung hit buck run about 100...

Re: First light

Our shooting hours start at on half hour before sunrise. I try to get into my stand ab9ut 10 - 15 mi8nutes before shooting hours begin. It seems plenty dark when I go in and I don't have a long wait until it's legal to shoot.

Re: On a VERY sad note...

Just awful! The overwhelming majority of shooting accidents are so preventable. Safe gun handling and shooting practices are common sense and easily remembered. I'm sure that the dad and his family are suffering now and it should never have happened.

Re: Hawk crawler deer cart update

.....ah the beauty of having your own property and Kubota UTV's.....no need for deer carts    ....albeit, it was a hell of a lot more expensive that just having a cart in the back of a truck on state property! :eusa-think: :eusa-doh: Ditto on Kubota but mine is a little different. I ...

Re: I think I blew it!

I think I know the near exact same feeling feeling. Sunday evening I was in my tripod stand looking into the woods behind the stand. I raised my crossbow as I turned to look into the cornfield to keep it from hitting the shooting rail. There in the cornfield 25 yards away was a nice 8 pt. buck that ...
