Re: Vixen II missing bolts...help!

Just use some regular bolts and flat washers from the hardware store until you get the proper ones. A bit of masking tape under the washers will heep the rail from getting scratched. Call Dan Miller today rather than Excalibur - it's Canadian Thanksgiving this Monday and you won't be able to reach t...

Re: OT: For Canadian Firearms Owners, RE: Wendy Cukier

One thing I have never heard asked of a pro-registration advocate, and answered, is how exactly does the long gun registry "save lives"? They always say "the gun registry saves lives" and "Police use it every day". Well, police use toilet paper every day too, but it doe...

Have a look at this and see if you think you might want an STS system... :D

Re: New Boots - Getting rid of the Smell?

Get them nice and dirty with natural odours that you find in the woods - earth, pine, cedar, decayed logs, mushrooms.

Not poo.

Re: Excessive penetration.

A more serious issue....

Are there people on the other side of that fence? Would you want your children playing in a yard where someone was shooting a crossbow in their direction?

You need to make sure your practice range is absolutely safe.

Re: messy firebolts

Excalibur fletches their arrows in-house. The fletching machinery is mostly automated - it's possible sometimes the glue applicator gets gummed up and some arrows get through a bit messy. I may be wrong but I believe the inserts are glued in at the Easton factory. It would be impossible for Excalibu...

Re: All this broadhead talk.... Who needs broadheads?? LOL

I made some of those back in my stupid days. Aluminum arrow shaft full of powder, drill out the insert a bit to fill a .22 starter pistol cap and stick it in the insert, and shoot it against something hard. In retrospect I'm very glad that 2213 was the largest size made at the time. We would probabl...

Well, much as I don't like to start an argument, the fact is, there are some stupid questions. Not many, but there are a few. :D

Re: Glue line, how to

I usually put a dot of glue every half inch of vane and use the applicator tip to spread it out over the whole base. Lock-Tite gel.

xbowkidd:

Who exactly did you call and get that response? Did you call the FCA office in Ottawa, or someone from the Championships organizing committee in Nova Scotia?

Don't read too much into that. :D

I've worked at a BP for several years - these signs are typed manually, not selected from a pre-set program, so it was just a typo. Like you never had a brain fart at work? :D

Re: Man with crossbow arrested near G20 site

A 53-year-old Toronto man is under arrest after a G20 bike patrol found a cache of weapons, including a crossbow, in a car that was pulled over near the secure zone of this weekend's summit. Officers found three arrows, containers of gas, a slingshot, chainsaw, fire axe, saws, a tire iron and other...

Re: Visit to Bass Pro Shop Toronto

I haven't worked there since January.

But we did have a rash of thefts of bows and crossbows last year, leading to having to remove all the boxed Excalibur crossbows off the shelves, and putting the security tags on all the display bows.

Re: Lumizone battery life

It varies with the quality of the battery. A cheap 3-for-a-buck-from-a-dollar-store battery will last a day or so, and sometimes they're dead right out of the package. Better quality ones will last 4-6 times as long.

You should put a spare in a small plastic bag and tape it to the side of your stock.
