My first crossbow deer!
Got this one with my Assassin from an Ameristep Doghouse blind on the edge of a failed soybean field. 25 yard shot with 7 minutes of legal light left; I was getting ready to leave when she showed up. Had to follow the blood trail down a steep hollow with my flashlight. Why’d she have to run down the...

Disappointed today
This year I have what is probably the best crossbow hunting property I’ve ever had. Today was a beautiful afternoon even if just a little warm (75). I made what I thought was a good 19 yard quartering away shot (deer facing away and to the right) on a smallish buck from a ground blind. The arrow imp...

Re: Great hunting tool
That's very neat. It would be nice for those on flatter lands with consistent prevailing winds. Where I hunt it actually shows the wind making a full 360 degree swing in a 24 hour period. Most days aren't that bad though. But the mountains can play heck with the winds. I've watched the smoke from m...

I want one! Not sure I’ll top mount it though. I don’t have any experience with that.

For those with an Ameristap Doghouse blind - what is this for?
OK - I've never hunted in a ground blind before but I'm going to this year. I set up in the back yard this afternoon for the first time. Everything makes sense with my Ameristep Doghouse except one thing. What is the cord for that is attached at the ends of each window? See the pic attached. Thanks....

Re: Cracked Executioners?
Good ideas about the wet paper towel, hot water, and the sandwich bag. I knew I’d get some good ideas here!

Cracked Executioners?
Yesterday I took out the aluminum flat nocks in 4 of my Executioners to replace them with Luminoks. To remove the old nocks, I screwed in a target point, heated it with a torch for 25 - 30 seconds, and then pulled the point/nock out with pliers. Inspecting the arrows where I had just removed the noc...

Re: The End of an Era and Beginning of an Error?
Never having personally seen an assassin, can someone tell me their rated draw weight and if they are notched in the stock behind the rail for use of a standard hand and arm strength type cocking rope to allow it to be cocked like on all other excals ? At this point I'm sure happy to be the owner o...

Re: The new crank
So no “pop” while you are cranking? Oh yes. There was a pop from the right side of the crank and a jump of the string at the same time. I figure it was the string jumping itself as others described. I waxed the string some afterward but haven’t used it since. The noise really doesn’t bother me. It ...

Re: The new crank
Got mine yesterday. I love it! Much easier to me than the old crank and, I think, safer too since the handle detaches and doesn’t go flying around and around. I have mine on a Micro 335 and it is SO easy to crank. Easy to shoot with the crank still attached to the bow too. Definitely an upgrade.

Re: Issue Closed
Amythntr - no hard case here. I ended up with the Excalibur Explorer case for the Assassin. I’m sure you’ve seen it. Its a take-down case that seems made specifically for that crossbow. Pockets for everything and doesn’t take up nearly as much room as a traditional crossbow case. I also got an Octan...

Re: Q-Who Uses the Plano Spire CB Case for Their Micro
I bought one of those cases but sent it back. There was something about the way the Assassin fit in there I didn’t like but, I apologize, I don’t remember exactly what it was. It may have been the scope height since the Assassin is kind tall. I k ow that’s not much help.
